I've had my 2215 for 2 weeks now, and just love it. But I'm surprised just how badly I miss the side (record) button for one handed operation. I use my Ipaq for reading while commuting on the subway, where one handed is a must. I used to remap the button to "scroll down" on click, and "scroll up" on click-and-hold using Vita button mapper. Now because of the small size, one hand has to hold it tight, and the other hand click the directional pad to scroll. No more one handed use. (I've tried using my thumb while holding in one hand, but it always feel like its gonna slip out.)

Do you use your 221X one handed? Whats your trick?

I miss the scroll button too. What I do is similar to what you've described. I've assigned the scroll down button to the email button. I hold the unit in my left hand and thumb on the email button. Since the buttons are fairly stiff to press, there's a fairly good hold on the unit.

I wanted the side scroller too, but I guess you cannot have everything. I want one thats like it is on my cellphone, it would be quite handy I would imagine.

Just solved my own problem. I bought the Belkin Ipaq 2210 flip cover case, which has a snap closure on the back. Just flip the cover over the back, snap it making a loop, and you have a nice handle to hold the Ipaq for one handed operation.

Try Double Launcher (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?productType=2&optionId=1_2_2&jid=X4BEFX74F7D576E1982175F46643CD68&platformId=2&siteId=1&productId=41503&advSearch=true§ionId=0&keyWords=double+launcher&catalog=30&txtSearch=double+launcher). It will let you assign more than app to a button. Such as, single press is the email, press & hold is the recorder, double press is internet explorer, etc.

Also check out ProTone Voice Recorder (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?productType=2&optionId=1_2_2&jid=X4BEFX74F7D576E1982175F46643CD68&platformId=2&siteId=1&productId=44172&advSearch=true§ionId=0&keyWords=audio+recorder&catalog=30&txtSearch=audio+recorder) or other similar products.
