Current troubles list:

I have trouble with my 2215 not turning on some times. I will turn it off and go back in a few minutes to turn it on and nothing. I push all the buttons pull the sd card in and out.... nothing.. i have to reboot. kinda sucks when you haven't saved the doc you were working on.

Also pocket inbox is really messed up. Half of the accounts i have setup the send button won't work. You tap send and for a split second changes the the other icon then moves the cursor to the address line. Oddly enough I will send if i leave the name of the service IMAP4 instead of renaming it. But it will not download email. if i go into the manage folders thing the inbox is supposed to be bold, meaning it gets synced. If I look at the options it is set to get headers only from the past 0 days???!!
i can change it to get full message for all days and it will sometimes download the headers only then. If I mark them to not be downloaded it then grabs random parts (sizes) from each email. Then I remark them for download and it will usually get the whole message. Then if I read the message it will not show up as read on the server and it will not move email to other folders. Next time I check email I have to do this process all over again.
I know the config is correct I have been using my ppcs for my main email management software for years now.

Also it will not wake up for reminders or alarms at times. I use my ppc for an alarm clock but this new 2215 has yet to work.

Also in the contacts if I tap on any of the "ABC" tabs at the top insdead of going to that letter it jumps to the last contact in the list. Except for the "#ab" tab that only takes me to the top of the list.

I hard reset it 5 times, the last time I tried all of this without installing anything. Totaly clean hard reset. So I took it back to Best Buy (100+ miles away from the one I got the first one at). The new on I got does the same thing.

I exchanged my Toshiba e740 for this because my screen was creeking at the bottom and starting to have recognition problems... I am really regreting this switch.

Come on guys... Toshiba sux! HP rules! right...??
That's what everyone said. My toshiba may not have had 2003 os but at least it functioned. I really don't want to go back to Toshiba. I love what the 2215 has to offer... it just dosen't work.

What do I do? :?:
Anyone else have these or other problems I haven't found yet?

Sorry for your luck. If you've done a hard reset of the device, never installed anything and it still locks up all the time. There is something wrong with the hardware.

This is where you have to ask yourself if you exchanged EVERYTHING. When your returned the first device. Did you exchange the battery? Did you exchange the cradle?

Because if the very same problem is following to the new device then there is still a common link that is causing this.

You commented about using an sd card. Have you tried removing the sd card and using it for a while?

It is possible to have 2 bad devices in a row....but with the very same problem....unlikely.

As far as the alarm problem, I believe that that is a common WM2003 problem, regardless of device. Some have the problem...some don't.

Good Luck.

Updates:

The not turning on problem is related to HPs power management. Not all devices seem to have this problem but I have talked to at least 23 others that do. May be more of a problem for the 2215 but I am not sure how that would make any difference, they are supposed to be the same.

I went to every ppc reseller in my area and tested the inbox problems I am having. It is a PPC 2003 problem. Every device at every store had the problem. I tried HP 1945, 1910, 2215, 5455, toshiba e330, and some viewsonic thingy. The problem mostly has to do with IMAP4. POP3 and activesync seem to work fine. Athough the POP3 did have the send button problem. The send button problem seemes directly related to the name you give the service. I named my IMAP4 servise SMSU and the send button will not work. If I leave it named IMAP4 it works. I have created several random named accounts and a few have worked. I have named my service Bearmail now (what the university web email is called) and it works, the send button anyway.
It still will not receive headers correctly but if I go through the elaborate process I described before it kinda works.

Not waking up for alarms was a problem with my ipaq 3630 and 3800. Not to suprising that HP still cant fix that. I had just gotten used to my Toshiba actually working for alarms and reminders.

the "abc" tab problem I could not reproduce on any other device i tested. It must be something I did to mine.

also I tried HP mobile printing and it does not work. It runs but gives me an error when i try to add a printer. "Error saving printer information." Kinda hard to print with no printer installed... I uninstalled, reinstalled, even installed the ppc 2002 version... all the same error... :?

I did exchange everything... battery, cradle.. all of it.
I also tried with and without the SD and/or CF cards just for the heck of it.. no diff..

I do feel a bit better knowing that i am not alone in some of these problems but how long to we have to keep paying for defective products?

I know my Toshiba had it's problems, activesync connection dropping, battery drop to 1% randomly, today screen fonts all going white, and i kept hitting that stupid battery stitch... ;) but all of those were fixed in a rom update (except battery thing but it was made very easy to fix).

So hopefully there will be a rom update out soon.. I love the hardware of the 2215. i do miss the loss of the USB host and VGA of the toshiba but i can survive... (i love nevo. :D )

Also the guy at best buy took my number and said he would call me as soon as one of the new HPs came in if i wanted to exchange for that.

So all around i am feeling much better now....

I was sooo frustrated Tuesday that i was ready to take it all back and get a palm..... *shudder* I poped back to reality as soon as i had to reboot a server via terminal services on my ppc. ;)

I know this question has been raised bofore but how defective can a ppc be and we still be willing to pay for it?

Wouldn't you all feel better if you spent your hard earned money on a device you could rely on? (no comments from the palm groupies pls.. JK ;) )
