Anyone in Chicago using a cell phone to access the internet via a handheld or anything similiar? I have a iPAQ 2200 and want to get on line - at least to check my corporate e-mail.

I use my Sierra Wireless 555 Card. I think US Cellular, Verizon, and Sprint offer service there.

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to connect my iPAQ 2200 with my US Cellular plan, but they say they only have a data plan for their 'modems.' I want to use my Kyeocera 2235, but when I try to make a data call, it says 'No Data Service available.' The company rep that I spoke with says they have no such plan.

Try T-Mobile. They have unlimited data plan for reasonable price and I heard it works fine in Chicago area.

You could connect with 2235, but your account has to be setup as 1X data capable. I don't think US Cellular is offering data connectivity through the phones only the AirCards. The two phones that they offer: the LG4400 and the Motorola T731 will work as modems, but I believe they are intended for BREW use only. If they notice large amounts off data transfers(ie people using them as modems attached to other devices) via these BREW phones the charges will be astronomical. I think eventually US Cellular will offer data via Phones connect with cables. I would guess sometime 1qtr 2004.
