This might be a valuable addition to your toolset if you feel the 4350 is a little too long. There aren't any photos yet, but this would also imply the 4150 has a serial port and the standard iPAQ sync connector orientation (as compared to the 19xx units, which don't have serial and have the connector reversed). The keyboard is slated to be released on November 1, although Amazon has it listed for preordering. [Affiliate link]

Yippee!!!! :multi: I knew they wouldn't leave all us 2200 users out in the lurch!
Now to find a source in Canada ... hmmmm I wonder if amazon.ca will have it....Nahhhhh, they never have the electronics stuff!

Well with this I may decide to stick with the 2210 instead of making the jump to the 4350. If the 4350 had included 128MB of RAM then the decision would have been easy, but it is not as compelling to me now.

It would be wonderful if this were implemented in the same fashion as the HP J56x keyboard was.... with the included flip cover.

Whoopie!!! Been waiting and praying for something like this since the 2215 was launched. Maybe they have read all my forum posts about it.

Exactly JonnoB, I loved the HP Pocket Keyboard on my Jornada 568 and it HP does it right with this one then I will save myself some serious cash in skipping the 4350 device.
I can't wait to see some pics and think $40 may be a steal!

This is a must buy! nice price as well!
I've never used a thumb board on any of my old ipaqs before.
Is it better for playing games in some emulators?
I find the joy pad on my 2210 is a bit dodgy sometimes, (e.g. skips 5 pages at once when reading a book in palm reader...but only sometimes)
I'd love gaming board to come out like the one that came out for the sony clies

If I were you, I'd consider HandHeldCanada (www.handheldcanada.com).

I'd also be interested in this as gonzo would be if it helps to play certain games. I found that while looking at the the d-pad it would seem to be an accurate control it sometimes tilts in the wrong direction then what I desire.

I think the 2210 is perfect except for the handgrips :soapbox: and memory.
Do you guys think these thumboards are more practical than say, Pocketop KB?? I'm planning on purchasing Textmaker and I like typing on the go. From ppl with experience with thumboards, how long can you guys type comfortably before typing on these become hazardous without breaks??
I'm looking forward to this or a Pocketop KB. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

heh - and added Wifi ;) and could sync with the keyboard on...

Actually, they live just down the street and I've bought almost ALL my iPAQ stuff from them. Unfortunately, they're not currently showing it on their website. But I guess I can be patient for a couple of weeks. (Maybe!)
Thanks for reminding me tho...

For me, a thumbkeyboard is for input of tasks, new appts, etc. If I'm using TextMaker to create a document, the only way to go is a full size, fold-out keyboard. The thumbkeyboard doesn't have the real estate to handle true touch typing.

I have to hand it to HP, they are really taking care of their customer's needs. I have always wanted a thumbord of a PDA and was happily waiting for the 4350. But as the 4350 is too long and does not have a CF slot I decided to give it a miss and go with the 2215. I am so happy HP came through with the add-on.
Cheers

So it is now shown as available from Amazon, but there is still no photo. Can anyone find a photo or more details on this keyboard? I'll order it in a snap using Jason's affiliate link if I can just see what it looks like.

I ordered mine a few days ago and it says it will ship on something like the 28th. I just found this link over at Brighthand, http://www.smb.compaq.com/dstore/sp_main.asp?hp_url=product.asp?sku=2422447&c=PriceGrabberSMB&n=D_E_DR_X_X_X_optionsproducts&r=PriceGrabber_optionsdatafeed&t=ad , to the HP site showing a photo of the keyboard.
So what do you all think? Should I stay with this keyboard or go for a 4350? I like the CF slot and have a new Viking 512MB CF card, but then again CF is not a necessity.

I'm sticking with my 2215. We'll see if i change my mind once I actually hold a 4350. :D

Last time I looked at amazon the keyboard was shipping as of Oct. 18th but there was still no picture. Now they say it will be released on november 19 and for only $31.99... What's up? What happened to the few of you out there that ordered yours already? Did it ship? Did you pay $37.99?
I think I am gonna order one now that i have seen the picture. I like!
Just wonder if it will ever ship ;)

I received an email from Amazon this morning stating that the product no longer has a ship date. I then went ahead and canceled my Amazon order because Circuit City.com has them in stock and is selling them now with free ground shipping. Unfortunately, my local Circuit City doesn't have them in stock, but I can wait a couple days. I don't know if Amazon will ever ship them out and am not willing to wait any longer.
I am disappointed by the fact that this keyboard may not have a backlight, but Circuit City has a good 14 day return policy so I will know if it is a keeper soon.

OOOHHH!! My CC had 2!! I got one. I have class tonight but I'll take some pics and stuff tomorrow. Wow it is soo small.. Adds no thickness to the back at all and no width. It is actually the same width as the rubber grips. Only adds thickness to the front. I must say wow!
Oh and of course it is not back lit... but I didn't expect that from a clip on.
YiPPiEE!!

I got one last week for my 41xx.
"... (as compared to the 19xx units, which don't have serial and have the connector reversed)."
This maybe a stupid question - you say that the 19xx units don't have serial - does this mean that a thumb keyboard is not possible? I have been hoping that a thumb keyboard would eventually be released for my 1935.

Correct. :( The only way to hook up a keyboard to 19xx is via IR or Bluetooth... and I don't know any of the latter, yet.
