I was wondering if it is possible (or ever will be possible) to connect a USB device to a pocketPC, this will allow a great use for printers, cameras, etc.

Is this possible? Has it been done (PPC Newbie = me)

I believe some of the Toshibas have USB host capability with an add-on. Check the toshiba site to be sure, though.

Indeed, a number of them (in particular, the e7xx series) support USB host (not sure about the 3xxs). However, this doesn't mean drivers exist for such USB devices.

I would like to see a Compact Flash USB add on. You know, like a CF that turns into a USB for connectivity. But then you would need drivers for PPC (like you would ever get those eh?)

You mean a CF card that gives you a USB port on your Pocket PC? (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8625)

thankyou Janek!

Wow wow, I might be getting one of those, if I can find where they are being sold! I would have liked to have seen it all in one unit, with no wires!
But ohwell, its better than nothing I suppose!

Thanks again for that! :D :D

Never mind, they are way too expensive for what it would be worth to me.

Might as well make it a sd card because there is more pda's with sd than cf. no?

Yeah, but it would require a SDIO slot... That's a little more rare.

Exactly, I think there is definitely a market for this peripheral but at a lower cost. I would pay 40-50 for this.

I just bought a $15.00 simpletech sd USB drive, just slide the sd card in and plug the sucker into a Mac or PC a nd it mounts no drivers needed :-)

It great and solves many connectiity problems..

What I cannot understand is why simpletech can do this and my ipaq 3955 cannot ??? its got all that horse power and software and it cannot connect without sync software, why not just set up a pocketpc so that it can mount like a hard drive on any USB computer ?

I ,mean come on HP /MSFT get the friggin connections going .. :D

hey guys,

i have a usb keyboard, usb mouse and usb card reader all connected to my Casio E-200. drivers for them exist written by DeJe. All I have to say is: I LOVE MY CASIO!!! :D

Stefan
p.s.: i'm aware that billionton are writing drivers for their bluetooth USB dongles, but it seems they have problems with PPC2002, you'll need WM2003 for them to work. apart from that, i think every PPC should have USB ports, it's just soo versatile, even more than CF, and the devices (mouse, keyboard) are available and cheap, and it is expandable with simple hubs, not like CF.

Card readers are good, I want to get a 6 in 1. But we are talking about actually hooking up a USB device, like a keyboard, to the PPC.
