How long is the screen on my iPaq going to last?

I mean, how long can i reasonably expect the backlight to last before it gives up on me. Keep in mind I'm a heavy, heavy user. I run the backlight on about 25% most of the time.

This probably sounds very stupid, but I'm just curious. :)

I imagine it'd *break* before it'd "wear out". And having a screen protector will reduce/eliminate scratches on the screen which could make it so you don't *like* it, but I don't know about wearing out.

Every day for more than a year, a friend of mine has kept his iPAQ 3955 turned on in its cradle with the backlight on full brightness almost all day while he's at home. The thing shows no sign of dying anytime soon. I personally have mine set to turn the backlight off after ten minutes of idle time while on AC, but I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you care for the Pocket PC, I doubt the LCD or backlight will fail during its useful lifetime.

I had a Compaq Aero 2130 that I used until I got my Axim this past December. I used the Aero EVERY day from Jan. 2000 until Dec. 2002 and I used the backlight quite a bit. I never saw any screen or backlight degredation....

I would expect that the screen \ backlight technologies have progressed since the days of my Aero and that you will be fine! Also: not a stupid question!

I think you are going to do just fine. MOst of the people on here use their ppc quite a bit. I have used mine everyday and I dont ever worry about the screen. I dont know how long you have had your ppc, but it would be wise of you to purchase an extended warranty with it. So if you bought it at best buy for instance you can get their 2 year service plan. Some store say time of purchase but you can always get a store to do it for you in the first 30 days because most of them want the numbers and the credit for the sale. If it is too late at any of the stores, you can call up hp and purchase one of their warranties. Just keep it backed up :)
