Unfortunately, I don't have a bigger picture, but I'd love to see this device with a separate keypad make it to the US market.

Rumor also has it this has a 1.1-megapixel camera. 8O It also supposedly has 192MB of "memory", which I bet is 64MB ROM and 128MB RAM. I bet, though, we'll never see this unit, and that it will be a Korea-only special. I hope I'm wrong, though.

I bet we'll see this later this year or early next. I base my guess on that the article states LG is putting this out to compete with the Samsung i700, which is very similar to it, except it has an older version of Pocket PC.
Remember, that is the reason why Sprint decided to delay that unit, until it is available with a more up-to-date OS? I suspect that Sprint may put this out instead since it may be a very near copy of the i700. Maybe wishfull thinking on my part...

I bet you're right about every one of your guesses!
They get all the best PPCPEs in Korea. :(

Hmm....I'm hoping this is a Zaurus style slide-out keyboard. :rock on dude!:

It looks like that might be the camera lens in the top left corner of the device.
So, any thoughts on the keyboard? It looks like it might actually side into the device! Wishful thinking on my part, but that would rock. 8)

man I'm all over that if it comes to Sprint. The way things are going with PDA phones and Sprint I think there will be some attractive options for us Vision users in the near future.

That makes us two, no wait -- a lot of Pocket PC users!
I do hope LG will not be limiting it to Korea only, that would be a waste of a good Pocket PC Phone.

Now that I look at it more closely it appears to be the exact same type of slider configuration as the Zire 71. Two halves that slide out, diametrically apposed to each other.

That's not a keyBOARD its a keyPAD.
Look at the picture... 3 buttons across. If you want to type anything, you're going to be doing it the same way you send TXT messages on your phone.
The keypad does look like it slides out of the device, tho; and that IS cool. I'd love to see a true KEYBOARD like this on any Pocket PC.
I wonder if they need beta testers..? :rock on dude!:
Kind Regards,

I haven't had a cell phone for about 3 years now, but if this makes it to market, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Very nice usage of available space. 8)

Apparently the sliding keypad idea is not such a new idea. I did a quick search on Korean websites and found this.

apparently it is a currently offered "smartphone" type device with a sliding keypad. It would be neat if they offered stuff like that in the states.
Samsung also has a PPC phone with sliding phone pad that they are already selling in Korea. This link shows pictures of the Samsung in comparison to the "Sky" pda phone with sliding keypad in the previous link. They both look really cool, although the SKY branded phone got a 7.2 and the Samsung got a 7.9 even though the SKY brand had built in GPS and the Samsung does not...

I JUST got off the phone with Sprint to cancel my account. :) Their PDA future is bleak, and with the pressure coming from all other providers in the US, you'd think they'd move. Instead, they offer the G1000 brick -- nice, as it may be, but that device is not the future sadly.
Plus, their other phones offer no hope of data connectivity. How many phones have bluetooth compared to competitors?
Thankfully, I can always switch back if they wake up, but for now, they're snoozin'.

Sliding keypads are the up-and-coming new fad, but they're not new, even in the U.S. AT&T and Cingular both sell the Siemens SL56, which has the same sliding design. Then there's the Kyocera Slider coming out for Virgin Mobile in three weeks (the "MTV Phone"). Then there's the Samsung SGH-D410 coming out soon. Oh, and the Nokia 7650 was a slider, although it was only for Eurasia...

As far as I know, LG spent a lot of money and people engineering this device. I'm sure they will roll out this device to US, whether it's from Sprint or AT & T Wireless.

LG makes both CDMA and GSM phones, however, the country of Korea only uses CDMA. I'm sure LG can make their phone GSM if they ultimately go w/an AT&T or similar GSM carrier.
Hopefully, they'll roll out both. Looks like a nice phone.

I just checked out Harley's site, and as one of the blogg commentors noted, there is a NATE designation on the phone which in Korea means that it has built in GPS. That would be super cool to have as well.

GPS Mark is not stand for include GPS Antena.
Just only, the model can supply to you a positioning service that use access points.
If you want a Navigation system, you must buy REAL GPS system.

I'm living in Korea. This phone-pda thing is also big issue now.
1.1 Magapixel built-in camera is installed. and the LCD supports about 260,000 color. This PDA has CDMA module for wiress communication and just for phone call as well. The interesting thing is the OS for both is seperated. I mean, for phone call, there is independent OS which has almost the same UI as the other LG phones have. When you use this PDA-Phone as a PDA, you can go to WM2003 with set a swith to PDA. Yes, there is a button functioning as such. But the major PDA-Phone function is still ok. For example making phone calls with just tapping on the name in 'contacts' in WM2003 is still possible. Wiress internet via CDMA is also available.
The mark NATE doesn't mean GPS. It only indicates a mobile multimedia service which is probided by SK Telecom, the major telecom. company in Korea. The mark only shows that it is including a NATE browser thing for the service.
see some more photos here. Actually all the text is in Korean, but many photos here.
Those photos are taken by 'Ha-rie'. at Korea Electonics Fair 2003 and posted as a personal review in Todaysppc.com.
