You get Worm World Party from Jamdat Mobile!<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/adrian/wormparty.gif" /><br /><br />"Worms World Party is a turn-based strategy game in which you control a squad of military-trained worms that battle each other in a fight for global domination. Annihilate invertebrate opponents using different weapons, tools and utilities until one teams stands (or wriggles) victorious."<br /><br />Features:<br /><br />• Two modes -- multiplayer "hot-seat" style or against the computer<br />• An array of wild and wacky weapons, including super sheep, banana bombs and mole squadrons<br />• Infinite landscape generation; you never battle on the same terrain twice<br />• High level of customization, including a left-handed play option and the ability to choose stylus speed and control buttons<br />• Graphics detail that adjusts to your device<br /><br />I'm not much of an arcade/adventure game player (I lack even the most basic motor skills), but I installed this one and played it tonight. I've gotta admit, the graphics and humorous sounds and voices had me entertained all evening and should keep even the most veteran gamers enthralled!<br /><br />You can use the Handango link above to grab a free demo of Worm World Party or buy the full version for $24.95.

A few issues with this title such as poor performance on slower devices or the lack of stylus control but otherwise great fun. A mini onscreen map would be a bonus though as the small screen means a bit of scrolling to see what is what. I guess Snails just does some things differently that work pretty well. Oh and it has a habit of crashing out with Illegal Exception errors. Hopefully a revision can address some of these issues.
Still a great title for fans of the genre.

I have enjoyed the game so far, with no crashes. I haven't yet found a way of scrolling the map quickly with the stylus though (the 1-2-3 settings all seem the same), although you can scroll it quickly with the DPAD when targetting an airstrike, so it is capable of quick scrolling.

I did somehow manage to change a setting that made my worms incapable of movement, which was confusing until I discovered what I had done!

Overall, I think it is an impressive port, and highly likely to see my PPC hijacked by the children!

Overall, I was INCREDIBLY disappointed. No backgrounds, no single player msisions, awful speed, and very crashy. Better off with Snails. Apparently a few people over at PocketGamer share these sentiments.

I don't have a problem with the lack of backgrounds, it's the gameplay that is most important. I did find that scrolling speed chane is only noticeable when you stroke the stylus across the screen faster. I guess the settings make the screen more sensitive.

tried both

www.snailsgame.com wins hands-down..

And its cheaper, at only $9.95 (vs 24.95)

I like them both, but I do like the Worms speech, their voices are even tinnier and sillier from the PPC speaker.

Though cries of "I'll get you!" did startle people sitting next to me on the tube.

I got to play the demo twice before it supposedly "expired", and I didn't even get a chance to complete the games I started :/

If I'm paying the rather steep $24.95 for this game, I'd expect a more substantial demo.

Also very disappointed that there is no Bluetooth multiplayer. This sort of game would be perfect for that sort of thing.

Questions. Would a casual worms fan enjoy this game? And is it worth the $25 for it?

A casual worms would enjoy it yes. Regarding the money, only you can decide that. I think there are a couple of small issues with it at the moment, at least I can see areas that could be improved but it is a port and still damn fine fun. Try the demo to get an idea.

But I thought that the gameplay for Snails was not very intuitive. Maybe that's because I don't play many games like this, but I couldn't figure out what buttons do what or how to move correctly around the field.

I like both games equally, but, I think that worms has better weapons and much better soundeffects. The loading time on worms is like 2 seconds for me, im on an iPAQ 2215.

I'm confused, I could've sworn that the Worms game is being done by the Snails people, or is this another separate Worms game we're talking about? :?:

As I understand it, Worms was around for PCs for a while, and Snails was made by an unrelated company as a Worms clone for PPC. Now the official version of Worms has come to PPC.

correct.

Brad, I found the controls more intuitive than the worms game. Perhaps it's personal taste?

I feel the game has an unfinished, tacky feel to it.

Dean_Shan, I recommend you try both.
