I'm finally ready for a new PDA. I've been using my Handspring Visor as a datebook and addressbook for years. I still need simple PDA functions, but would also like access to a wireless network, and need some advice about PocketPC devices.
In addition to personal data management (I have years of contacts and calendar data to convert), I'd like to buy a handheld that I can link into my small home network. I currently have 3 Windows PCs networked using a Linksys Ethernet DSL router, and plan to add a WAP for the handheld. Mainly, I'd like to access MP3 files stored on my main computer with the handheld device and connect the handheld to my stereo in another room. I'd also like to use the handheld for internet access from wireless networks when I'm out and about around town (I live in San Francisco, there's plenty of wireless access to be had for simple internet browsing and email).
Any tips? I'd like to keep total costs down to $400 or so if I can help it, including the wireless network card for the PDA if one isn't built in. And I don't want to be penny-wise and pound foolish.
Thanks.
