can someone tell me if/how to turn off the automatic fade that occurs to an image that is being used as the today screen background?

if i select my own jpg image to be used as the background the OS seems to lighten it to the point that it can barely be seen, i guess in an attempt to allow the today screen text to be visible.

i know that if i use a today theme builder that i can circumvent this, but i just want to stick a picture up without fading the colors....

thanks in advance

oh, and im using os 2002.

The only way I know of fixing this is to jack up the contrast and saturation on the original picture until you get the desired result. I have donre it using photoshop with fairly good results. Other than that The OS really ties your hands with this feature. Jeff

If you make a theme from it, you can control the degree of transparency.

or use the Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com/) to copy the file (whether it be .bmp or .gif) to \windows\tdywater.gif (and thus overwriting the standard image).

The themes Kati mentioned can be created using the free MS PowerToy (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/downloads/pocketpc/themegenerator.mspx), just open your current theme (with the "wrong" picture) and insert the new one.

The bleaching effect on themes seems to be a property of the theme generating software. With one exception every theme maker I have tried does this.

That exception is the thememaker mcdeb program available from http://mcdeb.com/

This is not true with the Power Toy from Microsoft. You make your theme, and then you transfer the .tsk file to your PPC into the windows folder. Boom you have your theme, and exactly the way it is shown on your desktop.
