activesync slow

Hi,
I am running activesync 3.7 on XP using an iPAQ 5550. The time taken to sync all my files has gotten longer. The pc seems to take ages spinning the green sync icon before it starts to sync the files. It also takes a while to acknowledge that the iPAQ has docked. I have tried reloading activesync but it has not improved things. Any ideas?
