IPAQ 3955 infrared problems

First time I have used this forum. I have an IPAQ 3955 running 1.11 bios and PPC 2002. I cannot get the infrared to work .... when I open the iR it permanently says I cannot activate iR until I disconnect from desktop... But I am not connected to desktop. I have contacted Compaq and they said load the iR fix, did this but no change.... Does anyone out there have any ideas .... I have also done a hard reset ... Thanks Nik :(

I would call Compaq/HP again and get them to take it back for service. It sounds like you have a hardware problem.

If a hard reset didn't fix anything, then you've most likely got a hardware issue.
