Should Pocket PC Thoughts be dedicated to the Pocket PC forever ?
I love the site (I check it at least 3 time a day) and I love the Pocket PC - but when "Thoughts" started Pocket PCs were so far better than anything else available that I was simply not interested in anything from other companies like Palm or Symbian. The Pocket PC was just way ahead of the competition.
However, with the innovation we are now seeing from competitors the lines seem to have become blurred - in my view the Pocket PC is no longer the clear winner (i still think they are just ahead) and I was wondering whether the Thoughts team have ever considered becoming more of a general PDA type site.
Sorry if this offends any hadcore Pocket PC enthusiasts but the "Thoughts" style of honest analysis, review and up to date news on all things pocketable would be cool.

I doubt it. Since a Microsoft MVP must have some sort of website and Jason is an MVP of Mobile Devices (from Microsoft) this site must remain true to only Pocket PCs. Perhaps you could browse platform-neutral sites like PDAAvenue and Brighthand...? :D

Despite my front-page rant today, I remain a big believer in the Pocket PC as a platform. If I ever were to switch to another platform 8O, Pocket PC Thoughts would be shut down and I'd start up a new site. But I really don't see that happening. :D
I like the focus of the site as it is and yes there are other sites that are more generic. Anything new from other platforms gets discussed here, as demonstrated by the threads on the new pa1mOne products.
The only change that I would like to see would be to make the "The Competition" forum open so that everyone could start new threads, not just admins. It would be a great place for anyone interested in other platforms to keep up to date.

I was not suggesting you should switch to another platform -
What I like most about pocket pc thoughts is that it does not make any apologies for being slightly biased towards the Pocket PC platform and yet it does not shy away from critisizing MS or the platform when criticism is due. Other PDA sites are not always that straight.
I would just like to see a detailed but objective review of some of the new PDAs from other manufacturers - have you played with Tapwaves new device or the Sony UX50 or an n-gage for example.
Maybe a once a month competitor product comparison with a Pocket PC would be a good feature.

Instead of opening that forum to the public, a new forum dubbed "The Competition" should be with the other discussion forums. "THE COMPETITION" (all caps) posts topics on the front page. ;)

Ponder this... Why doesn't ABC advertise on NBC?
I think the answer to that will help you understand why this is a Pocket PC site... Why give more press than absolutely necessary to a platform that you openly don't believe in as much as Pocket PC... NBC certainly isn't going to let CBS advertise "Survivor" and "CSI" on it's prime-time line ups!!!!

I think PPCT should stay JUST THE WAY IT IS! Don't mess with perfection. 8O
That said, it would be rather interesting if Jason started a complimentary site called Mobilethoughts (or something along that line) that dealt with ALL types of mobile devices...Pocket PC, PalmOS, smartphones, digital audio devices (and media)..and so on. :i got it:
