Has anyone heard anything about when the Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade for the 3800 series upgrade is coming out? It seems all the other devices already have upgrades available.

Will the upgrade really help us much? I mean, without an X-Scale processor and built-in bluetooth/WiFi, will the improvements really be worth it?

Yep, I'll just keep replying to get my numbers up!

I'm a constant scanner but only occasionaly poster, but I had one too many cups of coffee before leaving work in the ER at 10 so I've been having fun playing on the forums while I wind down!

Wait - Oh yeah, about that 3800 upgrade . . . (don't want to be labeled as one of the "problem kids" that gets off topic all the time!)

I got the 3800 WM2003 upgrade for my 3835 and it sucks.

Sure I have the new versions of the software, can view BMP files now, but I have had more problems after the few weeks with the upgrade than I have with all my previous iPAQs and Win CE devices put together.

HP Support has even had me downgrade back to PPC OS 2002 and re-install WM2003 on the unit.

My unit constantly has to be rebooted because it looses it's connect with ActiveSync when downloading CD to it via WMP9.

The other problem I have OFTEN is that the screen fails to respond to my stylis - however, all butttons and other functions continue to work without any problems. This problem also requires a reset.

So where you can buy the upgrade for 38xx devices? Can't seem to find it on HP's site?

I've got an upgrade for the h3870/h3875/h3845 devices. Unfortunately, I have an h3835, and the upgrade won't work on that device. (Yes, I've tried.)

The order was placed on August 16th, credit card charged shortly thereafter. After being notified of several delays the package was shipped on November 3rd. Only to then be told it was the wrong item.

A call to HP (1-800-888-0292) resulted in being told that all orders for the 3835 were mis-shipped and they would be re-shipped and arrive before the end of November.

I called back (same number) last week, and was told that there was no record of that conversation or of any shipment. She apologized and told me she would over-night the correct item (order number 15334239).

Today I called to check on the status (7 days seems a bit longer than "overnight" to me): Alejandro could not find any record of either order and would not help me further. I asked for Carly Fiorina's (HP's CEO) phone number, which took him about 5 minutes to find.

I called Carly's office, told the nice woman who answered the phone exactly what I've just told you, she couldn't help me without the serial number from the device (it's my wife's, so naturally it's with her right now). I tried to give her the serial number to my iPaq, just so she could get the ball rolling, but that wouldn't due. I'd have to call back, long distance, re-explain everything, give them the serial number, then wait while they tried to figure it all out. Back to square one.

I called the number on my invoice (sales order #014709500001) again, and was asked if I'd hold. I polietly stated that I'd prefer not to and was "helped" right away. I was told that the replacement hasn't shipped yet, and won't ship until it's in-stock, which won't be for another week or two.

Apparently no one thinks that 4 (four) months is a long time from placing an order to (hopefully getting it). I asked for a refund: that will take about 2 weeks.

I've owned 3 HP All-in-one printers, I've owned 3 HP Pocket PCs, I bought my wife this 3835 as a Christmas present last year. .

Can anyone suggest a decent replacement for the h4150 and h3835? I don't think I want to support HP any longer when even their Executive Response Team doesn't want to help.

Didn't Toshiba have this sort of problem? What's happened to their sales subsequently? HP, if you're reading this, I think you could learn a lesson about customer support and expectations from all this.
