Possibly as a response to <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18563">Dell's announced MP3 player,</a> HP is also thinking of offering its own MP3 player.<br /><br />With PC sales decreasing, major PC manufacturers, such as Dell, HP, and Gateway (<a href="http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1103-5059830.html?tag=nl">also offering an MP3 player</a>), seem to be diversifying in order to achieve profits. This seems to be the opposite of companies like Toshiba and Sony that started in consumer electronics and branched into computers. Will all companies eventually turn into mega-corps in an effort to survive?

Well anything by HP gets my vote. If their first TV is anywhere as good as their first Pocket PC then I'll drive 100 miles again (original iPaq). IMHO their stuff just oozes quality. Anybody rememver the 200LX ? Mine still works 100% and runs full blown Quicken ! (the DOS version ;0). A HP car stereo that takes SD cards, with integrated widescreen display and GPS would be very nice ...
Can't wait !

With all of these computer companies deversifying, one of them may end up doing a great job. Gateway's LCD Tv's are very nice and priced right.

I wonder if they will start attacking each other and taking over countries like in that great 1990's game "Syndicate". I loved that game!!

Great. More competition = better price for customer.

Where is the Dell MP3 player, anyway ?

When will we see audio rack equipment (receivers or amp/tuner separates, etc).

Heck what about high end HT/audiophile speakers with snazzy new material technologies and big-sounding construction processes, all designed to part you of thousands of dollars for pieces of wood and fabric...
