<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.brighthand.com/article/Our_Fifth_Year' target='_blank'>http://www.brighthand.com/article/Our_Fifth_Year</a><br /><br /></div>Brighthand has a new look, and a new article recapping the past four years and where they're headed for the future. I like the green - there are too many blue sites out there.<br /><br />"Four years ago today, while working as a computer consultant in Atlanta and waiting for the arrival of the dreaded Year 2000, I started the Brighthand web site. It was a humble beginning, four articles and no discussion forums, but in early 2000 we broke the news of the yet-to-be-announced Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC and things have never been the same. <br /><br />Now, four years later, Brighthand is one of the most popular handheld computing web sites in the world -- named one of the top 101 sites for expert advice by PC World -- with millions of visitors from more than 150 countries. And recently we began developing and licensing content to several major companies in the United States and Europe. Looking back, it's been an incredible journey, one that I could have never predicted. As Eminem would say, 'Who'd have known.' "

Brighthand really is a great site for multiplatform news and discussion. But for pure Pocket PC pleasure....nothing...and I mean NOTHING compares to PPCT. Actually PPCT does its fair share of posting platform agnostic news and content. What I love most is the shear breadth of news. Leave the site for one hour, and there are like 10 new stories posted. :rock on dude!:

I must admit that although ppct is my main site to visit, brighthands discussion forums are my next favorite place to visit. I also like to catch up on other os news. Sometimes, though, I get sick of the palm bias of the editors at brighthand. For a multiplatform site, they sure talk a lot of palm.

Take a look here... (http://web.archive.org/web/20010823071217/www.pocketpcthoughts.com/blogger-archives/2000_10_08_archives.html) That is from October 12th, 2000...

I hate to say it, but I think that awful green, low contrast color scheme will drive people away in droves. Maybe it's just my low-level color blindness, but I can't stand it, it's almost painful to look at. I can't tell if a thread is new or not... that green and grey are indistiguishable to me. Why mess with a good thing?

Gawd, you're right. I don't ever visit brighthand [they're the tabloid paper of the PPC world] but if I did - this certainly would drive me away. :D

I have high regard for the content at Brighthand... but it just isn't a pleasant experience to peruse it now.

The level of restraint from the veterans of the "Brighthand wars" who troll the halls of PPCT is rather surprising. I guess time really does heal all.
I suspect that some of that healing is from the fact that Ed is now the Ed at Brighthand and he seems quite the decent person.
I remember being surprised a while back that this site was even referencing Brighthand and vice versa. I think that shows great maturity on the part of Jason and the old timers here. I was just a observer at the time but it seemed peace would never come at the time.
Great that Brighthand is doing well, and great that PPCT's is doing well too.
Now if only Dale's site could excape the army of gremlins that seem to be endlessly attacking it.

Gawd! after going there a few times today, I can't easily see what is new and what is old news. I hate the new look. Looks like I'll be spending even more time here.

I love blue i use it for stuff on many of my sites green is to pastel or to dark most of the time. Also green reminds me of ghosts and therefor scares me... congrats to them though

I actually love the greens and the shades Brighthand has used, I actually dont like the colour PPCT is using. Way to much blue. The only blue I like is bluetooth, other than that, blue is a yucky colour, but I have come to stand it. Blue is to icy, cold, and wintery, and here in Calgary, we have enough of that! So, therefore, blue is cold and uninviting. My 2 cents

I'm in Calgary and I really like the Blue. Easy on the eyes. Soothing.

Nah - blue is soothing and cool, refreshing and easy on the eyes. PPCT has one of the best colour schemes going! :!:
