Is there a utility that will display the connection speed on my Ambicom wifi card? I'm using this in an HP 2215 w/o any problems except that it seems verrrrrryyyyy slooowwww. Last night I copied some MP3's from my home PC to my 2215 via wifi through a Netgear AP and it took about 1 hour to copy 70mb. Does this sound right?

I have a sandisk SDIO Wi-Fi card and it seems very slow as well at my house using an AP by D-Link. I think I got a little better speed doing Ad-Hoc with my laptop and a D-Link card, but still. It seems significantly slower than my regular wireless LAN connection between my AP and PCMCIA Wi-Fi card (both D-Link). I can even watch movies on my laptop out of my server that is wired to the AP. I haven't had that luck with even listening to songs on my h2215.
Anyone else?
A good software I'm using is: Cirond WiNc to see connectivity properties and finding hotspots.

If you're using Activesync to transfer the files wirelessly, then yes it makes sense, activesync takes FOREVER to copy files even wired so I can't imagine wireless would be any better.
Copying directly without activesync though, I don't know.

No I wasn't using Activesync. I connected directly to my PC through File Explorer, i.e. \\pcname\sharename. Speeds seem to be fine when I connect to this same PC using my laptop and PC Wifi card. It only seems to be slow when I use my Ambicom CF card and my PPC. Maybe the drivers for this card aren't quite ready for prime time yet?

I too have an iPAQ 2215 and Ambicom card, but I have a Linksys WRT54G setup as an access point stacked to my Linksys BEFSR41.
I notice its slow copying files from my lan to the SD memory card in my ipaq wirelessly. (BizDev's netUse to map to a share on the desktop, then use file explorer on the iPAQ to copy the files.) I haven't tried copying to main memory...
But then again, its SLOW copying to that same SD mem card in a SanDisk 6-in-1 USB 2.0 memory card reader attached to the USB 2.0 port on my PC's mother board. So in my case its not the Ambicom card. :(
Btw, I've used the Ambicom's WM2003/.Net version 1.0 and 1.5 drivers from their web site site as well as the Senao drivers. Both about the same speed.

I know compact flash are rates at around 2.5mb/sec which is 1/4 of the theoretical capacity of wifi theres only so much a handheld can handel it just isnt fast enoguh to process the 11mb/s unlike a full fledge notebook

Keep in mind that your Wi-Fi connection may have dropped. Typically, the first machine on a Wi-Fi network will grab the 11MB connection, all others will be at 5 or 1. Also, they may be interference...If you are using 802.11B, then maybe other devices such as cordless phones operating at 2.4Ghz or even a Microwave can also interfere. Don't forget about the distance and also what's in between the walls.
