Hi All,
I have
1. Linksys BEFW11S4 v.2 wireless router
2. Ipaq 5555

I have the wireless network setup with Broadcast on, and WEP enabled.
My laptop connects to the network just fine with the WEP key.

When I try to use my IPaq, it detects the network, i put in the WEP key and the status shows "Connected" and i see a "Green" light blinking.

The problem is I can not get on the internet.!!

If I disable WEP Encryption it works just fine.
HP says it is not their issue becuase the connection is working with out WEP and Linksys says it is not their problem because my Laptop is working with the WEP key.

I don't want to disable WEP.

Can someone help. I am not sure I am not the only one with this issue.
Your help will be greately appreciated.

Thanks
Srini

Are you entering the passphrase or the actual key? The ppc doesn't allow for passphrase entry and this may be the problem.

I am entering the key not the pass phrase.
and in the same CASE.

Try a Hex key versus an Ascii key. Otherwise look at these URLs for help troubleshooting...

You say you get a link with WEP enabled but can't get to the internet? Ok, is the assigned IP a valid IP? Can you ping your router? It may be a simple Connection Manager setting. For PPC 2002 I would say setup everything for Work, Work and Work, but WM 2003 seems a bit different so I can't really help there. Perhaps someone else can.

I am using the Hex key from my router admin screen. I am using the same key for my Win2K laptop and it works.

On the network adapters tab, it is showing generic IP. I set it to get IP automatically.

I did not try pinging the router.

The connection manager in WCE 2003 is a little different, i tried the following based on some other hist on this forum

1. Setting Work, Work, Work for PPC 2003
- In tne Network Mgt tab Selected "My Work Network" in the "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using" field
- Selected "Work" for "My Network card connects to" in the Network Adapetrs Tab
- Select "Work" in the "Connects to" field in the General tab of "Configure Wireless Network", where you specify the SSID.

This does not work either

2. I also tried removing the battery and popping it back in, that also did not work (this was one resolutions listed in the Pocket pc fourm"

At this point, I am very frustrated with my PPC.

I have a 128 MB SD memory card, that was causing issues when I launch my GPS Software (NavMan 3450), when I remove the card from the slot it works.

I tried that also, the wireless network still does not work.

At this I don't even remember what the default settings were. The PPC2003 easy config of wireless network, is not very intutive and very confusing.

I also downloaded the utilities, will try those.

I appreciate your help and insight. Hopefully I can resolve this soon. Then I will venture into configuring my PPC to hook up my work using VPN, i am sure that will be a challenge too.

Thanks
Srini

I downloaded the following from the HP support "Drivers and updates" page
I applied the this patch on my PPC
HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400/h5500 Series WLAN Driver Update » 3.2.2.115
28 Aug 03

Not sure if I should apply any of these
HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400/h5500 Series LEAP Support » 3.2.2.115 28 Aug 03
802.1x Enrollment Tool for Pocket PC 2003 » 1.00 11 Aug 03

Not sure if this has anything to do with my issue. Did anyone apply these updates?

Another Update

I installed all the patches listed above, the LEAP support patch errored out saying that "some file was in the ROM or in use"

I also instlaled the utilities from
http://www.cam.com/vxipconfig.html
http://www.cam.com/vxutil.html

These are very good.

IP Config utility shows no IP, just default windows values, When I release it and renew it does not get the IP, The green light on my IPaq is still blinking, and the connection tab says it is connected to the SSID.

I was able to ping my router address from my PPC - I think that is a good sign!
