In exclusive interviews with USA TODAY, Dell laid out its strategy.<br /><br />"The question is, how much and how far Dell can go with it?" says Dell President Kevin Rollins. "How many new products can Dell add to its portfolio? Where does it end? We think there's a somewhat limitless number of products and services we could get into."<br /><br /><img src="http://images.usatoday.com/money/_photos/2003/09-25-dell-axim.jpg" /><br /><br />That's a small picture of the X3, and I'll be posting more in the next few minutes - stories are popping up all over about the new X3.
The X3... Hmm, gotta check back past articles, memory's foggy...

I already posted this, but I think the basic will go for a minimum of $150 and a max of $175. I'm leaning towards $150 though. Any takers?????
I wonder what Gateway thinks of all this (not to mention established consumer electronics powerhouses)

If integrated with WiFi and still below $200, that would be another major breakthrough in price for Dell. I bet the price is more like sub-$200 for the non wireless version and $250+ for the wireless version. I hope I am wrong.

From bargainpda.com:
300 MHz device, SDIO with no Wi-Fi built in
400 MHz device, SDIO, 64 MB RAM with no Wi-Fi built in
400 MHz device, SDIO, 64 MB RAM with built in Wi-Fi at a price of $399.99.

If Dell can push the price of consumer electronics down like it says in the article, then I say "Go Dell Go" :D

$400, that doesn't seem right. I hope you are wrong, this doesn't seem low enough for dell to have any sort of edge with it's newer models.

$400 for the wi-fi model? No, it is not the correct price, considering
1. the rumored h4150 priced at $449 with both wi-fi and bluetooth
2 Toshiba e750 $399 with both CF and SD and 3.8inch LCD.

BOOM! I was right! Dell is introducing its own music store. Too bad we don't yet know the pricing on the MP3 player. :(

There could be another rebate involved. But who knows, none of this information is confirmed.

This news reminds me of an article I read a few weeks ago from AdAge.com about one person's opinion of why Dell makes money and Sony does not. http://216.239.53.104/search?q=cache:c2z4jba5ENUJ:www.adage.com/news.cms%3FnewsId%3D37800+WHY+JAPANESE+COMPANIES+MAKE+EVERYTHING+EXCEPT+MONEY&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 Basically, he is saying that Dell is good because they concentrate on one thing, and good at it, where as Sony is too diversified to make money. I'm no business philosopher, but it's interesting.

Hey AndyD, If you go over to http://www2.pocketpctools.com/spaw/images/articles/x3-left.jpg
Look closely at the left side of the image. Does that look like a Jog Dial to anyone else?
Food for thought!

To me, it appears there are three sections to that part on the left. The bottom two look like they're designed to accept something and the top looks kinda like a rocker-type switch.

Dell would make a pocket PC phone and Dell would come out with a Media Edition computer something that blows the doors off that crappy gate way media center edition. :mecry: if anyone can do it-Dell can.

Forget that, I want MS to release XP Media edition to home users so you can build your own.
