Does anyone know if it is possible to set up Outlook 2002 on a particular computer so that any appointments made will by default be in the Business category?

I don't think so. However, I do know a work around.

1. Start a new message and fill in all the fields you want to say something by default.

2. Choose File->Save As->[enter a path & filename]->[save as type]Outlook Template

3. Close the appointment window and return to the main Outlook box

4. Chose Tools->Customize

5. On the Commands tab, select File on the left, then drag the appointment icon from the right window to the toolbar.

6. Right click on the new toolbar icon and select Add Hyperlink->Open

7. Browse to and select the template you created in step 2

8. Click OK

9. Close the customize window

Now, when you click on the icon you just added to the toolbar, it will start a new appointment with your defaults already entered (in this case the catagory.)

Great workaround, dunneldeen. I can see that working for all kinds of other Outlook forms, too. Thanks!
