Ok, if you were building an ultimate device, vote for the absolute must-have feature. Feel free to post what else you would put in as well. If you use Other, make sure you post what the "Other" would be!

None of those features alone make it a must have. It is having most of them that make it the ultimate device.

Goldkey's right on - the ultimate device should have almost all of the things you listed.

Don't forget about battery life, though. Without good battery life, a device is so much less useful.

Of course a unit is the sum of its parts, but I've found that when buying a new device, there is usually 1 feature that is so tempting that I decide to ditch my current device and go for it, hence this poll.

I want a couple Gigs, Bluetooth, 802.11g, GPS, good speakers, mic jack, 800x600, the whole works.

Dean I think you're thinking of a LAPTOP, not a PDA ;)

bluetooth is getting bigger and better.
It is? I've never seen it as very useful.

All of them ALREADY exist in laptops. :) I totally agree with Dean: I want a PDA-sized device that has laptop functionality. ;)

Isn't it more productive to have REALISTIC expectations?

Isn't it more productive to have REALISTIC expectations?

Yes it is, but what we're doing is more fun.

My ideal PPC:

400mhz+ PPCPE with CF slot and integrated wifi. And in order to make it 'ideal' (or 'fun' as mentioned by ctmagnus), this device must be released in 2003, not 2008.

Absolute essentials -

Loads of memory, SD and CF, long battery life, good screen, bluetooth. With the latter there's no real need for it to include the abilities of a phone or GPS.

The point of this wasn't too be realistic - just to dream about potential. In 5 years, as technology has shown, the dreams of today will be realistic. If you don't believe me, show someone from 1998 at 512 MB or 1GB SD Card and try to get them to buy that you can store that much on that small of space.
