ipaq 2210, ma701, 128bit wep, passphrase translated incorrectly

Hi,
I am using a ipaq 2210 and a ma701. My AP has 128bit wep. when I enter the wep phasphrase it is transformed wrong, only when I enter the correct hexcode I am able to connect. Is this a known problem?

I've have heard of this with other cards. I always use the hex code, especially when mixing brands of nics and access points.
