Has anyone else experienced any random disconnects while using BlueTooth on a 2215?

I am not sure if it is my desktop adapter (Belkin USB BT dongle) or the 2215 itself, but it happens very frequently, usually in the middle of a sync or a file transfer. Once it disconnects, I have to go out to the Today screen, turn off BT, return to the BT manager, and the reconnect in order to get it working again. VERY annoying. No idea what might be causing it.

How is the CPU usage on your desktop? Some Bluetooth drivers tend to lose connection when the CPU goes too high.

I will monitor the CPU usage the next time I am transfering a file.

Thanks for the tip!

I'll just say I haven't experienced any BT dropouts on my 2215 when syncing, or when doing transfers. Installed a few programs the other day as well over BT. Ran it with a BT GPS for about an hour with no noticable issues too.

Desktop dongle is Billionton BTW.

Interesting that no one else seesm to have experienced this. Maybe the problem is with the Belkin dongle rather than the 2215.

Could be the dongle. I use the Belking F8T001. When I 1st got it I had to replace several before I got one that really worked well. Every once in a while I will get a drop out on BT when paired to my desktop. My 2215 has been paired with a BT GPS for 9 hours now (little beta testing), both on power, with zero drop outs. Typically the drop out occurs when I am syncing something like Pocket Quicken, or using ActiveSync to backup to the desktop. I haven't really been doing that as much since I sync with WiFi most of the time now.

I, too, have found bluetooth to be annoyingly unreliable.

The most predictable aggravation for me is getting the "Cannot Connect" error when trying to initiate ActiveSync. This happens about every other time I try to connect. To connect then, I have to turn off the bluetooth, turn it back on, and then connect. It usually works on the second or third try.

Otherwise, I occasionally experience dropped connections, but it's not that common.

Yes I've problems with BT on my 2210 but with only one device : an Inventel BT Access Point. The connection drops about few seconds. I have no problem with a siemens S55 phone and with my BT dongle on a laptop.

It's very annoying :?

I have random disconnects as well between my 2210 and a Trust BT dongle. Trust support is funny though, they can't send a CD with drivers, allthough they promised multiple times that it will be sent now. No downloads availible, sigh...

Hi
Anyone know what the expected BT range should be.
My TomTom GPS BT-2215 works fairly well in the car but signal strength gets low at over 6feet in my kitchen.
There seems to be a few problems with th 2215/ TomTom with lockups. fail to restart, screen wont turn on. I hope sombody somewhere is working on these.
Thanks in advance
Kev

I use a TDK dongle and my H3970 can connect from over 10m, on a two levels house.

I've had the iPaq connected for more than an hour, without problems. Interesting to read about all these connection problems. It seems to be very dependent on device, location, etc.

Perhaps interference from the neighboor's new 2.4Mhz cordless phone? Or the microwave? Or too many walls?

I've had similar frequent bluetooth disconnects when using my new GlobalSat GPS. I have yet to maintain a connection for more than 10 minutes, even when the two devices are only inches apart. Fortunately (in a way) I was sent the 1.0 version of the software and 2.0 is in the mail, so hopefully the stability should improve.

There's a chance the BT dropout problem you are seeing is related to the
one the GPS folks have been complaining about for a while.

HP support says they have zero advisories on BT dropout problems.

GPS folks' workaround is to move their maps to CF or main memory as
the problem is especially bad when maps are kept in SD memory.

Thanks - I'll try that. I have indeed been keeping my maps on an SD card and would have never thought of trying otherwise.

I have a D link DBT -120 and ipaq 2115. The BT connection drops very often although I cannot figure out why. The HP tech support tried for hours to help but really had no idea what the problem is. I suspect the 2115 has a problem but cannot prove it.

I hope the problem isn't with the 2215. That would be disappointing. First, the side grips start falling off and now the BT keeps dropping.

Not good.

I've got the DLink DBT120 and have had no problems whatsoever with it. I also now have the belkin dongle which also works OK. I have had issues setting up network pass-through, where the DLink worked fine, but otherwise, it all just goes.

My big problem is active sync over BT where after the first sync is disconnected, syncing the second time causes activesync to not recognise the device and gives me two options retry or disconnect the com port. Resetting the PPC fixes the problem, but I feel the issue is more to do with some bit of software on my PPC than the device itself. I never had this issues a month ago for instance...
