Isn't that the same 30 day trial you can get here (http://www.cirond.com/site/products/wifispotter/download_software.htm) without having to register on PC Mags site???

Hmmm... In that case, I guess I'll register...

Cool! I've found that Pocket WiNc (or however they capitalize it) is the only app that works well on my Axim with the Dell card.
Now I can go wardriving again!

Did anyone actually read the article. :soapbox: .
Ok, just kidding :rotfl:
The Deal
Unlike NetStumbler, which costs nothing (the author does ask for a donation if you like the software), WiNc is free for the 30 day trial only, after which you have to pay $20. But I liked the software so much, I swung a special deal on behalf of our loyal PCMag.com readers. For the next two weeks, visitors to our site can download a special fully enabled version for Windows, PocketPC, or both absolutely free. Just register with us, and you'll end up with a neat little wireless utility you won't be able to live without.
So maybe I'll register after all. I liked Winc but didn't want to spend the $20 for it. But I've got enough email addresses I can give one to pcmag.

Just remember: if you already have a trial version of PocketWinc on your device, you have to unistall it first (otherwise it still comes up as being unregistered)...

...just a small tip...
When I ran the installer it created a C:\Program Files\Cirond\pocketWiNc folder on my XP Pro desktop with two .CAB files, an .ini file and a .ico file. I simply copied the Cirond pocketWiNc.PPC300_StrongARM.CAB file to my iPAQ, opened file explorer and tapped on the file and the program was installed.
NOTE...This was for my iPAQ 3835 running the PPC 2002 OS. I have no idea how the WM 2003 OS version behaves when you run the install program...

I've tried installing both the 2003 and 2002 versions, but neither work.
When I ran the installer(s), they did exactly what Sooner Al has said, but no CAB files! They're ZIP files as far as I can tell. Opening one revealed about 30 weird unknown files. Should I pretend this is a CAB?
Anyone want to PM me and/or e-mail their CAB file?

The Sandisk card is not supported. Can anyone see any other cards there based on the prism chipset?

I have the Sandisk SDIO WIFI and it's supported on WM2003 OS. It works great with PocketWinc.

The Dell CF card works great with WiNc. I think it's Prisim-based.
Have you tried miniStumbler?

I think it must be the drivers. I'm using the 2002 drivers. So much fnr Sandisk drivers being available on Aug 20

UPDATE...
The above described issue was solved, at least for me, by installing the WiNc program on my XP Pro box as an Administrator versus a Limited User. When installed by an Administrator the WiNc installer worked as advertised and I did not have to work through the manual copy-n-paste procedure of the .CAB file to the PocketPC, meaning the installer installed the program on the XP Pro desktop and then kicked off the ActiveSync install portion.

I have installed pocketWiNc twice to my 2215 and am using a D-Link 660 card.
Every time I try to activitate pocktWiNc it says the adapter is not found. I'm running a wireless network at home using the D-Link CF card without a problem.
Anyone else having this problem? I'm using the D-Link PocketPC 2002 drivers.

I get that message IF my card is not inserted. Maybe Pocket WiNc doesn't support D-Link cards for some reason. I'd suggest trying miniStumbler or some other app.
Your card works fine, right?

No...I use a D-Link DCF-650W with my iPAQ 3835, but run the Intersil drivers, not the D-Link drivers. Here is their hardware compatibility list...Note the comment about requires an updated driver to be functional for some of the listed cards...
http://www.cirond.com/site/customer_service/hardwarelist.htm
D-Link has beta WM 2003 drivers available, that may or may not help...
