I finally found the cause of some minor problems on my Jornada 567 - the upgraded Stowaway keyboard drivers from Targus (v 1.6). Since I had deleted the original drivers from safe store some time back, I was stuck.
I did something kind of goofy. I installed the Ipaq drivers from Think Outside, v 1.7. They work fine, and solved the issues I was having.
