Space Trader

Hello All,
A year or so ago I was using a friends palm pilot(lol) and he had a game called Space Trader, it was very addictive. I am now in the midst of buying a new Pocket Pc, and was wondering if this game was ever created for PPC?? I know at one point they were developing it, I found a site for it before..but cant find it now :cry: ..Anyone know where or if I can get it for PPC??

I Googled, and found the official site (http://www.cs.unimaas.nl/p.spronck/picoverse/spacetrader/). The developer only mentions a Palm version, so I would say that no Pocket PC version exists.

There is always Dope Wars (http://dopewarsppc.sourceforge.net/). That game is classic.

Actually I managed to find the site for a Pocket Pc version http://www.eliteppc.com/game.htm (its basically the same thing as space trader)however if you go to download it says they are in the midst of obtaining permission from the copyright holders....

Nice game. Problem is, the game ends after 30 turns. What's up with that ? Remove the 30 turns limitation, and add more random events. Perhaps that will appear in the commercial version.

That's right. Space Trader for Palm is based on the old Elite game. I used to have it on my Atari ST, my very first computer.

I believe there was a beta version of Elite for PPC available on their site at some point. I wonder if it is on the web waiting for someone to discover it.

I feel your pain but the game is based on a how much you can make in a 30-day period.

But Space Trader would be a great game for the Pocket PC.

This is an opensource program... I don't see any 'commercial version' coming any time soon. ;)

If anyone wants to play it, just beta test it for them, I signed up, in their support section, and got a link instantly to download it in my email....

You can also just get the source from cvs and compile it. :)
