Okay, I'm an iPAQ 1910 owner and don't know a lot about wireless computing...yet. We have a desktop (no WiFi) at home.
Eventually, I'm hoping my wife will "get into" PPCs. I don't see her fumbling with my 1910's USB cable to synch with our desktop. I CAN see her tapping something on her PPC and magically, mystically, the ActiveSync process just happens.
Does Bluetooth do this? If so, how?

WiFi works to sync too. You have to do a physical sync (ie plug into cradle) first before you can do it wirelessly. I sync over the air more then I cradle, it's just so much easier to do.

My wife thought I was referring to male anatomy when I used the word "dongle" in her presence! 8)
So, is a Bluetooth dongle something you plug into the USB port?

Another question -- If my wife and I each have our own PPCs, can I "beam" Outlook appointments I've just entered to her device, and vice versa? When we're working out our calendars, I'd rather not have both of us doing the data-entry on our respective devices.

You bet! This is how my wife and I share our agenda... with 5 kids, we are always pulled in different directions. This helps us keep on track.

5 kids!?!! I'm a slacker -- I've just got 4. :D
It's just a matter of time before I buy a PDA for my wife -- I'll probably await the next-generation of Windows Mobile, though, which will give me time to figure out how all this wireless stuff would work in my home, with devices that are so user-friendly that my wife is willing to use them.

I had the same issue. I use the Axim, but my wife writes songs, and uses her iPAQ as a digital recorder as well, they playback is much better on the iPAQ, audio isn't the greatest on the Axim.
Before we bought her the iPAQ, she couldn;t care less about a PDA. "Just give me something I can keep my appointments and contacts in" is what she would say. Now, she can't live without it. I think it's all about finding something that she is interested in, and the rest will become second nature.

How do you sync via wifi? I have an iPAQ h2215 and a D-link wifi card.

I just turn on my WiFi, open the ActiveSync program on my ppc, tap sync, and it connects to my desktop. Once it has sync all the outlook stuff it disconnects, so to install programs I still cradle.

Once you have sync'ed manually the first time, with your WiFi card in, go to ActiveSync on the handheld and hit sync, but if I remember correctly, you need to have your Network card set to connect to work, not internet.
