Cool! Now I can run this car along my dashboard while I drive AND use the phone at the same time! Seriously though, this could be fun. How about everyone brings their car to a meeting and does races on the table!

Mini RC cars were one of the "hot" gifts last Christmas too . . .

8O Finally, something that I'd buy Bluetooth for! They make these for the PPC and I'm there! I really like the table-top-race-at-meetings idea! :takethat:

Ditto - This is too COOL. :onfire: Maybe we can get some table top races going between PDA's or PDA's against phones or just plain iPAQ against the world. :shocked!: :takethat:

This is cool!

I'd like to see a BT version of the mini-tank a guy at work brought in. It's one of those IR jobbies that you can even shoot at other tanks and stuff. :)

Someone please develop a program to use it wit our ipaq!

While at it, make sure that you include some sort of dashboard with gauges for our PPC screen !

Now if they would just add one of those small cell-phone-size cameras to the front, and send the images back to your phone, you wouldn't even have to see it to drive it! The ultimate remote control!

I might have to buy a bluetooth card after all.

[quote="Janak Parekh"] I hope it uses a supported profile... ;)

Sorry, the words "supported profile" and "Sony" don't belong in the same sentence together :bangin:

 You'd think so, right? But Sony != Sony Ericsson. The latter has a pretty good record of sticking to existing BT profile standards, unlike some companies... *cough*Nokia*cough*

Okay, sign me up! Maybe Jason can work out a subscriber discount -- and who cares about PPC support? I'll use it with my T610!

That will be really fun, if they can crank up the bluetooth range to more than 10 meters. Then there is a problem with privacy. I can already imagine high school students rolling one of these BT-car-with-camera into the girls' rest room ... or into a celebrity's house ...

In case it isn't obvious to those who don't program, " != " is equivalent to "not equal" in programming speech.

This is a really really cool bluetooth device! 8O I'd love to get one of these if it isn't too expensive!

This is the first productive product Sony-Ericsson has produced! :spam:

This is sweet. Perhaps i'll buy the HP 2215 after all if I can get this for my PDA.

Did anyone see the movie "Bad Boys II?" During the end, there was a remote control car this Delta force soldier had which was controlled via satelite, and he was able to see a live picture of anything with it through his camera. I wonder if that would be do-able via BT, or even streaming video via WiFi. Too cool!

Man...

You're all a bunch of geeks...

Imagine...A program on the Pocket PC with gauges and controls on the screen...

Sheesh, why not just have a camera mounted on the car, and have the image on the screen as well???

Hmmm...

Then again, that would be pretty cool...

O.K., I guess I want one too!!!

*draws his power stapler* Put the credit card down and step away from the computer!

Seriously. If anyone buys this, [or the next person to ask for a camera so we can do "James bond" kinda driving] is going to have a nice little talk with me and this here power stapler.

I think Sony's robotic dog, Aibo, already has the ability for remote control across WiFi and the ability to stream video footage back to a computer.
If you wanted to stream video from that small car and Bluetooth, you'd need to add an extra processor to the car so it can compress the video to fit in the 115Kbps Bluetooth bandwidth used by most smaller devices.
Now if you tried it with WiFi on the other hand, you'd need a bigger battery, and a bigger car as well.

You'll be able to buy them from the Sony Ericsson web site next quarter. They will be "limited edition" and pricing may reflect that status.

I played with one at CTIA in March - they really do work and they're insanely cool! I used a T68i to control it. They had a little oval racetrack set up, although I heard the one at CeBIT was cooler.

At the time, they were just a demo thing - not an actual product. The point was just to have something cool to get people's attention and show off Bluetooth at trade shows like that.

But I distinctly recall saying to the Sony Ericsson product managers I was meeting with that they should bring them to market. (Seriously.) Glad to see they took my advice. :D

Why do such a thing, you ask? W?BIC! (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7144)

Hmmm... Let's bring a discussion back to live... I've just received my Bluetooth CAR-100 and posted a review (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=1741) on-line.

In summary: very very very cool gadget. I wonder when someone will hack and find the protocol used and create a program to control the car from a Pocket PC or laptop. That'd be very cool. Also changing the body and colours: a mini-hot rod 8)
