<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/3997.html' target='_blank'>http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/3997.html</a><br /><br /></div>Some very cool news on the converged device front: T-Mobile Germany has disclosed that the new, upcoming MDA will have a 400MHz XScale processor, 128MB of RAM, and Bluetooth along with a new display and an integrated VGA camera. The device is slated to be released this October in the UK and Germany. More information and really high-res photos are in <a href="http://www.t-mobile.de/presse/ifa2003/mdaii/1,4588,6537-_,00.html">their press release</a>, if you read German (or if you like <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.t-mobile.de%2Fpresse%2Fifa2003%2Fmdaii%2F1%2C4588%2C6537-_%2C00.html&amp;langpair=de%7Cen&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;oe=UTF-8&amp;prev=%2Flanguage_tools">translator-speak</a>).<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20030829-tmobile-mdaII.jpg" /><br /><br />Honestly, these are fantastic specs for a phone/PDA combo. I can't wait to see this hit the US. As to when that's happening, though, I have no clue; what I do know that T-Mobile USA has cut the price of the existing Pocket PC Phone here <a href="http://www.t-mobile.com/products/overview.asp?phoneid=166765">to $399</a>, and Amazon's price with a new subscription <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006IIRQ/ref=ase_jasondunn-20">is only $279</a>. That's a pretty good deal if you're willing to go for a reflective unit. [Affiliate link]

Does anybody know if we can get with no Sim Lock? I live in Greece and no provider here seems to support it...

Absolutely drooling. Haven't been able to touch PPC Phone Editions due to lack of Bluetooth (specifically Bluetooth headsets and ability to use phone as a modem for laptops, etc.), but this......

Only problem now is, I've grown quite accustom to the integrated 802.11b in my iPaq 5455....can I live without that? There always is SDIO for that ;)

I'm on vodaphone, and this phone will be making me change networks (which I think must be the intention all along)

I am really, really, really looking forward to this device. Right now, I'm using an iPAQ 1910 in conjunction with my MDA (I had the iPAQ first), because the current generation MDA just wasn't quite up to snuff feature-wise to become my main PDA. My main problem was the 4096-color reflective screen (no match for the gorgeous 1910) and 32MB RAM.

The specs on the MDA II are a dream come true to me. When I found out a couple days ago that it will have 128MB RAM (instead of the 64MB in O2's XDA II specs), that was just icing on the cake. I can't wait for this to become available in the U.S.

Hurry up, T-Mobile! :D

I have just read in a German Forum ( http://www.ppc-welt-community.info/Community/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31786 ) that there will be a WiFi version also!!!
This would make more sense since Bluetooth is mostly needed in order to connect via a GPRS enabled Mobile to the Internet...
Let's hope the WiFi model is true!!!

Great news!.....wait, do you mean we may have a choice between a Bluetooth or WiFi integrated unit, or there will be a model with both? Hopefully the later, but if not (and I had to choose), I'd actually pick the Bluetooth unit....as I said, Bluetooth headsets and the ability to connect my laptop to it via Bluetooth for GPRS access....I would use those more than I would WiFi, and since (soon) there will be an 802.11b SDIO card, that's how I'd do it. Can't stress enough though, both would be a dream come true in this unit. :werenotworthy:

If this is possible, how do you get the Sim out of your old phone? I'm currently using Sprint (but that just might have to change  ). Thanks.

THIS IS MY NEXT PPC / PHONE - MDA II :multi: :jester:

- y'sum I'll take that with the WiFi option please

given the SDIO slot and that the BT SD cards are better hardware than the WiFi SD Cards, and that I use WiFi way a lot more too.

Hurry up T-Mobile - get this thing to the USA - now..... pretty please.

400 MHZ? 128 MB RAM? I was thinking 64, but with 128, I would think I died and went to heaven.

This may prove to be my last PDA.

There's only one thing I don't like about it and that's the case itself. Why does everyone think that the IPAQ is the neatest thing they've got going? I like to be different from the herd, but most I see have imitated the IPAQ.

Well, the original XDA/PPCPE was designed by HTC, the same company that made the original iPAQs -- that might explain why the styling is so similar. I have no news on who's manufacturing the new one, but I'd assume it's still them.

The Samsung i700 does look and feel quite different... especially the fact that it feels much less slippery.

Just one month to go! :) That’s my future PPC for sure: MDA II, XDA II, Qtech II, HTC II……

Why don’t they just give one name?!

This is exactly the same spec list as the XDA II, isn't it?
Add WiFi, Dual expansion and a better camera and you have a PDA that is absoloutely perfect for use. Of course you can always add more stuff to a PDA (Biometric Scanner, built in GPS, built in WCDMA, smaller size, 262K Colour Screen etc. etc. etc.) but these are just gimmicky toys. MDA II is one of the best PDAs out there.
One last question: will this be sold SIM-Free under a name like QTek 2020?

Anyone from UK able to tell me how much t-mobile charges for GPRS internet access. Their web site seems to be concentrating more on wireless hotspots than anything else, and their price plans are very confusing. What's nice is that they seem to make it quite easy to switch networks, and allow anytime cross network minutes at a reasonable price.

Thx

I am the owner of T-Mobile Germany's first MDA version which they released last year. It's been an awesome experience and it has helped me during my day to day taking care of business. This new version I suspect will of course have WM 2003 pre-installed. One key change that I noticed on the picture of the newer model is the absence of the antenna stylus holder which came on the older model. Made the MDA somewhat bulky in the pocket or leather case.

Now hopefully att carries this as well since tmobile doesn;t have service in my area. Although, i may buy an XDA if they drop the price significantly.

Hi!

Just back from IFA in Berlin and they had the MDA II on display, I watched a guy play with it and noticed it had support for bluetooth headset! Looked very nice indeed, I'm selling my IPAQ when this hits the shops.
