Hey folks.

I have a Pentium III running XP home. Activesync 3.7 and a 3Com USB dongle (model 3CREB96 in case it matters)

I have synced prior using the USB cable so there is an active partnership for the 1945 on Activesync already.

I can get the 1945 to pair with my desktop, I can exchange BT business cards and send files.

BUT as soon as I try to set it up to Active sync it connects, sits there for a long while and comes up with 'device not recognized' - Retry or disconnect USB/COM

I'm stumped.

Any ideas anyone ?

Oh BTW - I know the 3Com adapter is good I have (and still can) set up a freinds Tungsten T to use the Hotsynch via BT.

See what your Bluetooth Serial com port is. Go into Activesync on your PC, and goto File->Connection Settings, and then check the "Allow serial cable". Change the com port to the one noted from your Bluetooth Neighborhood or however your drivers work.

Hope it works for you. It worked for me.

Thanks nic but thats not it.

In order to get them to start the connecting process you have to do that. Conviently the 3Com software even tells you the COM port it's trying to use to do the things (LAN, serial, etc) as it asks for permission.

They connect, it's just an Activesync issue where AS just won't 'recognize' the PPC, even though it can via cable.

hmm..well... sorry that didn't help.

I got one of the Americom or something bluetooth adapters from Bestbuy for 50 bucks, and the only thing I COULD do with it is activsync. And this was a real piece of crap as far as drivers and range go. I took it back, and ordered a D-Link Bluetooth USB adapter online for 38, and it works like a champ with everything... Dialup Networking, File-Transfer, Network Access, Activesync.

I would highly recommend these.

Bluetooth is weird, and has a lot of issues accross venders. I hope you get it sorted out, because man is that Network Access and Dialup Networking sweet! (Although I hear that 3com bluetooth doesn't work with either of those)
