You may receive synchronization errors if you have ActiveSync 3.6 or earlier on your PC. Be sure you've downloaded and installed ActiveSync 3.7 from <a href="http://www.pocketpc.com">Microsoft's Pocket PC.com</a> download section.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/hansberry/mskbwatch.jpg" />

Activesync 3.7 is much better than the previous versions in terms of stability and reliability, so it is worth updating!!!

I'm looking forward to Outlook 2003. From what I've seen it looks much improved.

Outlook from a UI point of view was looking rather dated.

Agreed! Outlook 2003 was the reason to move from Outlook Express as my E-Mail client to O2003. Before POP3/IMAP4 configuration was a pain and the GUI was super outdated - to much Exchange driven; now I love O2003 and would never went back to OE as Mail client.

Anyway - AS 3.7 is really worth to upgrade. The best AS I've seen so far in terms of stability (but for sure still not perfect).

Yes, AS 3.7 has been pretty good. A whole lot better than 3.6.

I could care less if they improved the looks of OutLook 2003, I wish they would add some nice simple little touches that every other email program out there has:

Like selecting text in the original message and hitting "reply" and only having the selected text quoted

Select where it places the quoted text, i.e. top or bottom of the reply text. Now it shoves the quoted text at the bottom of the reply, not at the top like most other email packages.

And lastly, take out ALL HTML support :D

I hope 2003 adds some of those features above, but from what I've seen it does not. :?

Sorry, got a bit off topic, but OL burns me on complex it is but at the same time it lacks soooo many basic features...[/b]

I've been using Outlook 2003 for about 2 months now, and love it. It doesn't automatically display inline images in HTML mails, which is big for the privacy folks. I use it with an IMAP account, and it is much better over a dial-up link than XP. The rules wizard is much improved. And it looks nifty (although I think the new 3 paned view takes more screen real estate than older versions of Outlook, and would completely suck in portrait mode on a tablet.)

I can't remember if I went to AS 3.7 before or after I upgraded to 2003, but I am on it now, and haven't had any sync issues.

I have the beta and have been using it for a few months now with my ppc with activesync 3.7 no problem. Do you people think as ppc owners with outlook 2002 licences that you should be allowed a cheap upgrade to 2003 when it's released. We pay quite high prices for our hardware compaired to the palm crowd that have specially provided software wrote for them, and 2003 has actual new features that the last 2-3 versions certainly havent shown. Spam filters, better interface (not changed in the last 2 versions)......what do you people think...should microsoft be kinder with it's pim choice with hardware, or are you all willing to pay $200 + to get better functionality out of your $400-600 hardware a few months after purchasing....is it worth that value? do you use pirate versions? I'm interested it what the average ppc user does under these conditions....

Also rlobrecht, have you just downloaded a warez version or are you on the official trial.
For peoples information go to http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/getit.asp
If you'd also like to have a copy of office 2003 trial cd's. These will also be full versions not beta's
Full versions are released in october.

To agree with rlobrecht
The POV of the panels makes outlook much improved, spam filtering is good....but not as good as what mozilla corps thunderbird componant is good at, the rest of office appears bog standard with a different interface and isn't that much improved at all....

Yeah I've had the Office 2k3 beta 2 kit for a few weeks now, but never got around to really play with Outlook  The biggest hope for me aside from privacy enhancements is probably improved IMAP support (I was waiting for either O2k3 or InsightConnector v3)! I'm glad to read above that it's even better than OE in IMAP? :way to go:
