I'm getting ready to set up my Tosh e740 for GPS use in my car and I'm looking for recomendations for a good, solid holder that won't drop my expensive investment. Any suggestions?

You want to look at either Arkon or Seidio mounts.

If you want to properly wire the mount in, look at the kits from Brodit which are specific to your car model, and blend in well - they look factory fitted.

Go ahead and so say if it's inappropriate, mods, but a great site for all your GPS-related needs is http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/ - they have pics of user's custom mounts and many reviews of commercial mount solutions.

If you haven't bought a GPS package yet I can highly recommend TomTom Navigator 2 - very, very good. There is a freeware addon called Checkpoint which warns visually and audibly of approaching points of interest - in my case UK speed cameras...not that I encourage anyone to speed, that is breaking the law.

Thanks for the informative advice ... I was all set to get Tom Tom USA but upon further reading at GPSPassion.com it doesn't give street names.... this is a bummer plus it's not so stellar re-routing .... it's a must have in my book. Leaning very heavy for Routis as my uses are longer than 200 miles trips.

Started looking at mounts as well, and I found this review at PocketGPS.
