The Windows Media Encoder 9 works really great on getting my MP3s' sizes down before putting them on my iPAQ h1945. The only thing is it won't let me do a "batch" job to convert several. Each one I have to start a new processes and this takes awhile. Can anyone recommend any software to make this easier? I was hoping for a plugin for WMP9 that would allow me to encode files before I do a "Copy to device" through the WMP9 interface. That would have been really slick...

2nd thing: I have no problems converting MPEG-1 video files to WMP9 files using the Widescreen PocketPC profile. It works FANTASTIC, and they play great on my iPAQ! (A lot better then I thought they would). But whenever I try to convert an AVI (I know, I know,...there can be a lot of configuration differences in an AVI) it always says Error in format or something. So I'm looking for two possible solutions: either a better front end in converting to Media Player 9 from AVI or other sources. Or something that can take any file and make MPEG-1 video out of it, so then I can processes it down to WMP9.

Thanks for input!

Does the AVI play in Media Player? If not, you may be missing the required audio or video CODEC, which would be required for Windows Media Encoder to do its job, as well. A common CODEC used in AVI files these days is DivX (http://www.divx.com). XviD (http://roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml) is another that's sometimes used.

You might also try running the AVI through DivFix (http://divfix.maxeline.com/) to see if there are any problems in the file.

The file(s) play fine in Windows Media Player 9. Maybe I'm just not configuring Windows Media Encoder 9 right? I should look for guides :?
