<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/discounts.php' target='_blank'>http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/discounts.php</a><br /><br /></div>I'm pleased to announce that our <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/subscribe.php">subscriber</a> discount page has been launched. Here are the coupons we'll be releasing to all subscribers in the coming months (a new coupon every two weeks, chosen in a random order):<br /><br />• 50% off Mastersoft Money v.3.58 from <a href="http://www.mastersoftmobilesolutions.com/">Mastersoft Mobile Solutions</a><br />• 33% off Pocket Backup Plus from <a href="http://www.spritesoftware.com/home.html">Sprite Software</a><br />• 25% off Agenda Fusion from <a href="http://www.developerone.com">DeveloperOne</a><br />• 25% off any <a href="http://www.twopeaks.com">Two Peaks</a> software title<br />• 15% off any application through <a href="http://www.handango.com/brainstore/home.jsp?siteId=311">Handango</a><br />• 15% off any <a href="http://www.pocketinformant.com">WebIS</a> application (Pocket Informant, WebIS Mail, Journal Sync)<br />• $7 off any <a href="http://www.iliumsoft.com">Ilium Software</a> title<br />• 20% off any <a href="http://www.resco-net.com/homepage.asp">Resco</a> Application<br />• 20% off several <a href="http://www.clickgamer.com">Clickgamer</a> games<br />• 15% off <a href="http://www.cerience.com">Repligo from Cerience</a><br /><br />Additionally, we're ready to distribute the <a href="http://www.pdamill.com/">PDAMill</a> application codes: as a <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/subscribe.php">subscriber</a> you'll get your choice of <u><b>any one</b></u> of the following applications, each worth $9.95: EZNote, Gamebox Classic, Snails, Gamebox Solitaire, or TopKey. And there's two more free surprise applications coming from another developer - an extra bonus for being a subscriber!<br /><br />One thing I want to address is the matter of rotating the coupons in one at a time. I know that as a buyer, you want to have access to all the coupons immediately. But as a developer, you'd want your application or company to have a bit of time in the spotlight, wouldn't you? So rather than putting up all the coupons at once, I'm going to put up them up one at a time, two weeks apart, in order to give the developer some exposure to you, the <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/subscribe.php">subscriber</a>. I hope everyone can understand why I'm doing this - I need to balance the needs of you, the subscriber, and the developers who are giving you these awesome coupons.<br /><br />If you're a <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/subscribe.php">subscriber</a>, go <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/discounts.php">visit the discount coupon page</a> and grab a great <a href="http://www.pdamill.com">PDAMill application</a> to have fun with over the weekend!

A small question (sorry if I missed it), I assume each coupon (like 15% off from Handango, 25% off any Two Peaks, etc) can only be used once per person? I mean, they track it to your customer account?

I believe so, yes, but to be honest a lot of that will be up to you to figure out. ;-) Some of the developers gave me Handango coupons that will only work in the Pocket PC Thoughts Handango store (http://www.handango.com/brainstore/home.jsp?siteId=311), while others gave me coupons that work only in their stores. I don't know how "stackable" the discount coupons are - you'll have to let me know.

Oh, and by the way, I chose to release this on a Friday afternoon rather than wait until a Monday because I wanted to reward the hardcore PPCT subscribers! :way to go:

Wow, awesome. I didn't know the coupon list was this extensive! Jason, you've been holding out on us!

The hardest part: TopKey, Snails, or the GameBox Classics.
I particularly don't have a big usage for TopKey, which is an international keyboard with a nice layout. I think Snails would probably be the best app to get; it looks really awesome, but i'm not sure.

On a sidenote, are Handango coupons really stackable!? I have a $5 coupon for the survey I completed, and I was wondering if that could stack with some other discounts.

Update: seems like I just broke 400. Nice.

Hehe, actually I meant if PPCT users can use one coupon again and again. Not that I have much need to, but it would give an indication how fast said coupon would expire.

For example, I think the Handango coupon is 2000 times. If each subscriber can use it once, we wouldn't have to worry about it expiring soon. But if everyone can use it multiple times, well...

Am I understanding this right?
15% Off Any Handango Purchase
Receive 15% off any Handango-purchased application by using the code ??????. This coupon code expires on December 31st, 2005, and can be used a maximum of 2000 times in total, so it should last for several months at least.

Does this mean for all subscribers or does each person get to use the discount 2000 times?

Jason Dunn

Most of the codes can be used once. As each code is released, I'll let you know what the restrictions are on each coupon.

Regarding the Handango coupon, it can be used 2000 times in total before it ceases to function. Based on the number of subscribers we have, each person can use it quite a few times - assuming, of course, that Handango didn't make it a "one user, one use" code. I don't honestly know if they did. :-)

All subscribers in total. The coupon code itself can be used 2000 times in total before it deactivates. Thank you for not re-publishing the code in your quote. ;-)

It is confirmed. Handango does not allow multiple offers to be combined.

I tried the $5.00 discount I received earlier this month, and the PPCT discount, and they wouldn't activate at the same time. :frusty:

Yes, it's an excrutiatingly painful manual process. :| I honestly don't want to process these on a Friday night I'd rather spend with my wife. :-) Can you maybe download a trial version in the meantime?

Jason, I processed my pdamill game twice not thinking the first one went through. Sorry, I didn't know it was a manual process.

Would it be possible to have the option to get a free game disappear once you make your request. It is very confusing. If not, you should put a note indicating that you only need to request your free game/application once.

Jason, I processed my pdamill game twice not thinking the first one went through. Sorry, I didn't know it was a manual process.

Yup. I have to process each one by getting a unique serial number from a text file, past it into an email back to you, then also update a master spreadsheet so I can keep track of what game each subscriber ordered. If we had enough time, we could have automated the process, but for a one-off process it wasn't worth the investment.

Hmm. I suppose we could drop a cookie and have the form disappear, but that's more development time that I'd rather devote elsewhere. Do you think people will request it multiple times? I'll get that note added about requesting it only once and that it's a manual process.

If you look below the Handango coupon, you can see there's a "Past Featured Discounts" zone. Every coupon we have will we archived there and always be accessible to you.

I wrote to them a while back asking the same question, because I need the ability to input Thai text... they're response was that they'll have something soon... but that was back in early July.

It's amazing how quickly we get used to instant gratification. I'm just like Goldkey -- I filled in the form and immediately looked in my mail to see if I had the free game already!

I can remember when I was a kid and filled out coupons for freebies from a cereal box or something, and then waited six or eight weeks for whatever it was. Now everything is instant download (another plus for ebooks), and even for physical objects you can get overnight Fedex; I find it hard to force myself to check the ground UPS option instead of two-day Fedex option for things I really don't need right away.

I got that $5 coupon as well and when I tried to stack it with a 15% discount from Geekzone.com, it would not take both. I suspect that our PPCT discount is similar. Better use that survey coupon quick--I think it expires at the end of the month.

My lovely wife has just started to do the processing, so I expect that within 2 hours everyone who has requested the coupon will have it. The exception to this rule is anyone who requested Gamebox Classics - I'm awaiting the full version of the application from PDAMill, because we're offering them for download off our server (they're locked versions that only work with the serial number). Sorry for the delay - hopefully PDAMill will get me the installer sometime today.

Negative. For the users of Handango that filled out the survey and received the $5 reward, the coupon expires 9/30/03.

update: Bah. I was wrong on the expiration date. I assumed the date was for everyone who filled out the survey.

I believe it depends on when you filled out the survey. For me, the expiration date is indeed 8/31/03 just like piperpilot.

BTW, Ashley just sent me my serial code for TopKey as Jason just stated she would! :way to go:

I also want to take this moment to reiterate what many others are saying... these subscriber benefits are fantastic!! The Vaja case I bought for my 2215 was the first Vaja case I've ever purchased (I've purchased a ton of other cases in the past for my other PPCs), and I must say that even with all the hype surrounding Vaja, the case has exceeded my expectations and is by far the best case I've ever owned!! The micro-light has been an extremely handy addition to my keychain (and is often the first thing I pull out when I'm opening my computer now)... and TopKey is an app that I've been eyeing for quite sometime (hopefully, they'll get that upgraded for WM2003 soon).

All this in addition to the email blasts, online forum, etc... I have zero regrets on having signed up!!

I've got to agree, the subscription is great. Probably the best money I've spent online.

Thanks again to Jason and the Team.

How does a developer get his product in the list of discounted products for the future?

On the subject of the Handango coupons. I think that the coupons can be set to be stackable or singular. In the case of the $5 coupon (mine expired 31/8 incidentally) I believe it cannot be used combined with others. I too tried to combine it with the geekzone code to no avail.

Still - Some code is better than no code

I subscribed just because I already get more useful advice and entertainment from this site than I get from any magazine I might subscribe to.

I didn't need the discounts and extra features as an inducement, but it is quite fun to get these bonuses from time to time; the flashlight with Pocket PC Thoughts on it is very cool. :D Now I have Snails, which has very attractive graphics, although I think I may be to old to learn to play it (I've never got the hang of action games).
