I brought my iPaq 3955 on a week-long camping trip (pop-up tent camper) and found that the greatest thing about it is being able to read in bed at night. I've always had a hard time getting the right amount of light on the book in a camper. A well-lit PDA screen is just the deal. I have a motorcycle/tent camping trip coming up and I'll be sure to bring it with me. I can't believe I love that little package of technology as much as I do. :D

That's why I love ebooks, you can read in the dark. When I go camping I can't use them (no power to recharge). Ebooks are also good if someone else in the room is trying to sleep or watch tv/movie.

I particularly like how I can change MObipocket's reader to white on black, full screen, for late night viewing. Or grey on black. Or pale cyan on black. Very easy on the eyes, and not disturbing to sleeping spouse. Cleartype support helps too, though that only works with white/black or black/white.

FYI, I bought a Lightwedge (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0641077491/korovamultimediaA) reading light for my wife, then one for myself. It's a plate of plexiglass with LED lights in the edge -- you lay it over the book and it just lights up the page, not the surrounding tent/bed/camper. And you can leave it in the book as a bookmark (works better with larger books than paperbacks).

Runs for weeks, months on 4 AAA NiMH or alkaline rechargeable batteries. Costs roughly US$35.

Guess I did miss thread. Also didn't read the newspaper in the last week either.
