:(
I will be buying a tablet pc in the next few weeks, but I have no Idea if i will still need my PPC. Have any other users here bought a Tablet and been in the same position?

I'm not personally in your position, but my boss owns a tablet (HPs) which he never uses and is now considering the purchase of a 2215.

The same happened to me. I had the compaq tablet pc back in january. It was very intriguing as it was 1 of a kind. Large touch screen and so on. Then aftyer 2 months, id use it like once every 4 days.
And so i just got my ipaq 2215 yesterday and i aint gonna ditch tat baby!

Two words: resume time.
Try resuming your tablet, and then try turning on your Pocket PC. No comparison, IMHO. ;)
In all honesty, though, you should use whatever works best for you. Good luck. :)

For me the answer is an easy one. No, I would not get rid of my PDA in lieu of a tablet PC. My Axim is very portable. It allows to me do things like take it to the soccer field so I that can watch my kids play while I clean up some email or bring it with me to a gathering where I know I am going to be able to update contact information for people. I can bring it to church to follow scripture readings or go running with it functioning as my MP3 player. I take enough crap at work work for being a gadget freak at work since I have my Axim with me constantly for all of the "hey can we schedule a meeting" appointments and "the next time you think about it" tasks.
I just can't see me lugging a tablet PC around everywhere that I take my PDA.

I have a Portege 3505 and a 5550 and the PPC gets as much use as ever.
The tablet also get heavily used as a tablet as well as a normal laptop.
I never found the PPC filled my needs for meeting notes and journal on the tablet is just right. I am a IT consultant so do a lot of block diagrams during meetings and being able to put it straight in Visio is great.
Reviewing documents is also another favourite activity which I couldn't do on my PPC
However my PPC still gets used for PIM, reading (never got on with reading on the tablet), journey planning, some browsing, etc.
Janak is right about resume time and the tablet is never going to have the true portability of the PPC.
I seem the two form factors as complementary rather than competing and I wouldn't be without either one. Even at work when I am never without the tablet but take it to life in general and I wouldn't trade my PPC in for anything.

I'm in complete agreement with dochall :!: I have a Motion tablet, and absolutely love it. But it could never replace my PPC. The two are completely complementary, and in no way compete with each other. I must admit though, I hardly ever use my desktop anymore since getting my tablet last December.

The problem with tablet PC is ... it looks like a laptop, it works like a laptop. And laptop is not a device that you can use everytime you want to. Imagine playing tablet PC on a friend's wedding, on a party, in a club ...
PPCs, on the other hand, are OK to be used on those occasions.
Quoting someone else on this forum ... If you use a Palm/Clie, It will not only makes you look cool, but also attract females .... :D

I would never get rid of a PDA for a tablet.
IMO a tablet is simply a laptop that is a bit smaller (in most cases) with an extra method of input. I like my PDA because it can go everywhere without being intrusive.
I wouldn't take a tablet everywhere because of its size...it's still too big to tuck away into a pocket for spur of the moment notes, reminders, entertainment, and other features...
