Over the past few weeks I have been eagerly anticipating the release of the Pocket PC 2003 upgrade for my iPAQ 5450 in Australia. When it was released in the U.S., I thought I'd just purchase it direct from the U.S. site. Unfortunately, they only accept purchasers with a U.S. address.
So, i've been patiently waiting for the Aussie HP site (http://h50043.www5.hp.com/ppc2003) to pull their finger out and make it available here. Its now mid-August, and according to the Aussie HP site, it is available. But if you click on the links, you're taken on a web journey-- which ends up on the page where you first started-- that is, the page proclaiming that the software is available for purchase (but no "buy" button). Argh!
So then I rang up HP direct. The call centre person told me that "the website is incorrect", and that the iPAQ 5450 Pocket PC 2003 upgrade is not yet ready and will be shipping in about 10 days time. Bah! Should I believe her? Is the 5450 update *really* available? Is it in fact available anywhere? Even in the U.S.?
