is it possible to sync through a firewall? I know you can in palm- you just specify the ip instead of a computer name and open the one port palm uses. Can this be done with a pocket pc? how? without VPN (I'd have to upgrade my firewall)? Thanks

Yes you can, however its simply not safe...Personally I recommend the VPN method...
