View Full Version : Task Bar Auto-Hide

I'm not sure if I'm just odd, but I like having my Windows task bar on the left of my screen with auto-hide on.

I like this because it keeps the screen free of clutter when I don't need it and I can read the tasks better normally.

Sometimes the taskbar won't auto-hide though. If I RC on the task bar and turn off auto-hide, click Apply then turn it on again and click apply then it will hide.

Then the next time I bring it up again it just stays there.

This doesn't happen all the time, but every once in a while the task bar just won't pay attention to the whole auto-hide feature.

I get very frustrated at the task bar not going away when I want it to.

Am I the only one to see this happen?

Windows does occasionally get confused about focus when you auto-hide toolbars or taskbars. I clicking on the taskbar or toolbar, then clicking on the Windows desktop, usually "reminds" Windows as to what's going on. I probably have to do this once a day (I don't hide my taskbar, but I've created a toolbar for the desktop, which I auto-hide along the left. This way, I can turn off all the desktop icons and pretend my desktop is neat and uncluttered. ;) I can also access my desktop's contents from any application...)

Yeah, it does go away eventually.. it's just really frustrating.

Oh well, hopefully Microsoft will get this whole focus thing right one day...as soon as they get the whole "security" thing done maybe
