Brighthand's discussion forums are down (again), and Dale Coffing's site plants a year 2000 date stamp on all messages, so they get shunted off to where you can't see them.

Blaster virus?

Dale's site was discussed before - it's going a through a change, and there's a problem updating the front page using MS FrontPage. Search this in last week's news here at PPCT.

Brighthand could just be under heavy load. A few weeks ago they found out that all users of JournalBar had the Technology/Pocket PC option set by default (or something like this) and the server couldn't cope with the load imposed.

Actually, Pixelator is referring to a different problem on PPCP.

$ telnet www.pocketpcpassion.com 80
Trying 216.243.113.5...
Connected to 5.unused.zianet113.gwi.bz.
Escape character is '^]'.

HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0
Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 16:56:19 GMT
Content-Type: text/html
Content-Length: 87
Looks like the PPCP server clock is about three years off. Hmm, where's the NTP? ;)

As for BH: it's running Apache 1.3.27 on UNIX:
$ telnet discussion.brighthand.com 80
Trying 66.240.133.114...
Connected to discussion.brighthand.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
GET foo.bar HTTP/1.0

HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request
Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2003 00:21:17 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) PHP/4.3.2
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1
I suspect the problem there was just overload, as Mauricio implied.

In other words, it's not Blaster. Hope this helps. :)

But the JournalBar access doesn't involve the discussion forums, just the news/reviews area (which is still working at BH). ???

Milleniumbug strikes retroactively.
