My iPaq 3630 soaked up as I reported in these pages some weeks back. HP India offers to replace the iPaq but they are charging equivalent to USD 300. I can jolly well buy a brand new Pocket PC for that money, and this is what I am thinking. I am considering iPaq 2215 or Axim X5 Advance. iPaq has the advantage that it has bluetooth integrated and it is lot sleeker. However, I had already invested in Belkin CF bluetooth card, so I can use that in Axim, which does not have inbuilt BT support.

What do you guys recommend. My budget and needs do not go beyond $400.

Thanks,

My .02

Hard to beat Dell's price point, but I would go for the ipaq.
Feels more solid, smaller, sleeker, both slots are on top, and it has the same connector as the other newer ipaq's(lot's of accessories.
If you use the record button a lot though, I would go for the Dell. I don't remember seeing one on the ipaq, which means you probably have to map the record feature to one of the buttons on the face of the unit.

I have the Dell now (bought it when it first came out). But if I were making the decision today, I would get the 2210. Pretty much everything in the Dell but a smaller size.

From what I've read, the Ipaq 2210 is the PocketPC to get at your price point. I'm real close to getting one myself...just having trouble justifying the expenditure :)

I have an Axim and just got a 2215. The 2215 is going to be my main machine. It is substantially smaller and the built in BT software is very easy to set up. It does not, as was pointed out, have a record button on the side, nor is there a rocker there either. If you think you would like that, the Dell has them, but many complain about their positioning. (Too low on the unit). I never used those items on the Dell, so I don't miss them. I do dislike the side located SD slot on the Dell somewhat. It is not difficult to accidentally unclick the SD card when holding the unit. The 2215 SD slot is top mounted, which may become a problem if you try to install an SD WiFi and a CF camera for instance. Of course the SD slot on the Axim is not SDIO, so you would never have that option. It is SDIO on the 2215

Software-wise, they are pretty comparable units. I don't see much difference in performance, even though my Axim is a PPC2002 and the 2215 is a PPC2003. Hopefully the Axim PPC2003 issues have been resolved.

There actually is still a fair spread in purchase price. You can get the Axim and a couple of peripherals for what you'll pay for the 2215, but I think you would be happier with the 2215 in the long run.

Sleek like the 2215, and built-in BT, but also has a scroll wheel and a record button for $200. :D
