Supposing i am on a random internet connection, would it be possible for me to access my computer via activestink, using a set up IP address?

I am trying to find out nearly the same thing- my wireless access point is outside our firewall, and I need to sync through the firewall. I don't mind opening the ports, I just need to know how to sync with an ip instead of the "usual" hardwired computer

You would have to get onto the same network segment using something like a VPN connection.

How do I set-up a VPN to connect to my current network?

A VPN is set as an option in the 'work' network settings. Then while connected to your non-work network and a resource is needed on the work network, a VPN connection is attempted.
