Hi People,

I'm trying to use the Bluetooth network access profile to connect my iPaq 3970 to my PC. I can ActiveSync over the Bluetooth connection fine, so I know that the Bluetooth side of things is working.

However, when I choose "Connect to Network Access" from the "Actions" menu in Bluetooth Manager on the iPaq, the Connect to BT Network Access status box appears, and then immediately a message saying "Error from RasDial".

Anyone have any idea what this means?

Many thanks,
Mark

Sounds to me like Bluetooth on the PC side of things may not be setup correctly. Do you have ICS setup and running? You'll need ICS working to do what you want. As I understand what you want.

Have a look in our Bluetooth Guides (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=449) to check your configuration. If still not ok, then have a look in the last guide, with a list of things to check.

Thanks for the responses.

I actually used the Geekzone guide to set it up, and everything on the checklist looks okay.

The configuration looks okay. My LAN connection in my desktop (XP Pro)has address 192.168.1.4, and is enabled for ICS, with "Bluetooth Network" set as the "Home Network Connection". This then automatically configures the "Bluetooth Network" connection with 192.168.0.1.

When I try and connect to the PC from the iPaq, I still get the "Error from RasDial" message. The network connection does seem to be get established though, but it comes down almost straight away afterwards.

When I try the connection and then immediately go to vxUtil, it says that my current IP address is 127.0.0.1, which is obviously wrong. This would seem to imply that it's not getting an IP address from the DHCP server part of ICS, but I don't know why. :-) Or maybe it's something else.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Mark

Do you have the Windows XP firewall enabled? Any other routers on this LAN?

XP firewall is not enabled.

There is a router on the LAN, but it shouldn't be running as a DHCP server. Will check when I get home.

Is the "Error from RasDial" message consistent with a DHCP problem? I did a web search for it but couldn't find anything mentioning that exact error message.

Thanks,
Mark
