Just wondering if I can use the optional USB Hot-Sync cable for anything other than syncing and charging. Specifically, I'd like to be able to use it for the following purposes:
1. Serial connection for consoling into Cisco devices
2. Serial connection to connect GPS device
3. Attach a USB barcode scanner

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

As it is a USB cable and not an RS232 cable, I would say the answer to your question is no. Pretty much syncing and charging are all you can do with it. You CAN obtain a serial cable that will allow you to do those things (perhaps needing a null-modem adapter or gender-bender).
