I can't seem to use my auto charger I had for my old 3800 series with my 5400 series. I put on the 5400 adapter and it does not register charging. I don't think there is anything wrong with the car charger. I even plugged in my old compaq aero and it chrges with no problems. Have they changed the voltage and or amps on the 5400 series?

The connectors for the 38/3900 will work and charge your 5400. I have the same setup and legacy equipment, so I know it works.
Have you upgraded to the 1.11.19 ROM? If not, the you should. It has a number of memory optimizations that may resolve the problem that you're seeing; which could very well be a resource issue.
If the soft resets don't work, and you haven't upgraded your ROM, upgrade to the PPC 2002 1.11.19 ROM and let us know how things go.
Kind Regards,

I tried all of that. It might be the adpater. It was part of a kit. You could use it with one of the chemical packs or the auto charger. It has also been sitting in my trunk for a while. Not sure why it powered up the old aero though. I had tried it with each rom update intially thinking it was that. It is also my second 5455 ( screen dies after 3 weeks on first one) the old one didn't work with that charger either.

I went to hp.com and they had a car adapter listed as working with iPAQ 1900, 2200, 3600, 3700, 3800, 3900, 5400, and 5500 series. But it was a bit pricey and I know because the 2200 is still so new a lot of third party people offering adapters don't list the 2200 yet.

There must have been something wrong with my old adapter. I bought a new one and it works fine. Not sure why it could power my old aero, but none the less, this new adpator works fine

I had problems with my charger that i used with 38xx and now charging with my 54xx.
What i had to do to get it working was to enable USB charging and then it worked fine.
