I recieved my new baby today. However, there's a piece of paper in the box that insinuates that if I want to get a Care Pack for it, I have to do so within 30 days of purchase.

Is this the case?

Seems odd to me, because the last CarePaq I bought was ~ six months after I bought the unit it's covering.

I called HP a few days after receiving my h2215--the person indicated that HP does not have a CarePaq program for PDA's yet. It should be available at some point in the future, and one should have a year after purchase to buy the CarePaq. Has anyone else gotten this same information?

I purchased one of these for my Aero 1550 and it was one of the best purchases that I made.

That's weird. HP Canada does have CarePaq programs for PDAs, to extend the warranty for one year or for three years.

The 1940, 22xx and 55xx series aren't listed in the "compatible" iPaqs though (1910 is), but that only might be because the page isn't up to date.

I don't know if it's due to the merger, but HP support seems to me to be very, very confused. Last night I called to have information on the compatibility of the iPaq foldable keyboard with the 221x. I dialed the number on the HP.ca site for sales consultation (general inquiries). I got vocal menu, and selected a category of call that specifically mentionned PDAs. But the person who answered told me that I had the wrong number, and that they didn't know anything about PDAs! He gave me the "buy online" number.

Should I have called the Compaq line? I thought it was only about Compaq servers.

Yes, they are available. I have one. Call
1-800-407-6210

Be waarned though, they'll charge you $8 shipping. My registration came in a large FedEx box. The reg papers could have been in an envelope and sent for 50 cents.

The papers for my previous iPaq came in an envelope, in a large box. :confused totally:

iirc, I had to pay for shipping also. Except they came by UPS in my case, whereas all the other warranty work I've done through them (pre- and post-merger) was through Purolator.

But the 30 day thing? Anyone know about that?

1 800 OK COMPAQ still has options for "handhelds".

When I talked to HP, they said the Carepaq must be purchased within 30 days of delivery of equipment. However, there is nothing that requires you to prove when you bought the unit. That said, they can ask for proof of date of purchase if you require service. 8O

FYI: I just got through (1 800 652 6672) and they said 90 days.

:confused totally:

I just signed up for a 2 year CarePaq this afternoon and nobody asked me them I purchased my unit. Not I would say as long as you are aware of the possibility of them asking you this question, me prepared for the question with an acceptable answer...

How much was it for the h5555

It's not per model, it's per unit. Standard three year NBD exchange is ~$150CDN. Three year with accidental damage coverage is ~$320CDN. Same for all iPaq models.

Different devices vary. I imagine a notebook computer would probably have pricier Care Pack options.
