Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could provide some assistance with a problem:

I used to have Netrunner working and mapping a shared folder in the my documents folder on my PC (Win Me). It was \\Tony\my documents\my music. Tony being the name of the PC. I was able to access it over the WiFi network and stream my mp3 or wma files to PPC (PPC2002 OS on 3870 w/ Linksys CF card).

Suddenly, it stopped working. I am not sure when or what I did but I couldn't get it to work anymore.

Since then, I have tried to add: a pocket hosts, used vxutil ip program, tried Resco Explorer and I can not get the share to be found.

Any ideas or suggestions as to how I should go about troubleshooting further?

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide?

Tony

Have you tried a soft reset?

Yes,

numerous times after trying different options within Netrunner and Resco File Explorer.

More info:

I have a Linksys BEFW11S4.

I have a Prismiq Media Player connected hardwired which is seeing the shared files on the main PC.

The auto detect part of Resco File Explorer sees that device but not the .100 main pc.

try replacing your computer's name with it's ip address. if that works, then there's a problem with dns or you have a host file issue.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try when I get home. Some follow on questions from your suggestion:

Would the mapping look like \\192.168.1.100\shared folder name

If I share a folder in a sub folder, do I need the whole path or just the name of the share?

\\ip\my documents\my music or just \\ip\my music

where my music is the name of the shared folder

A piece of info, I had Netrunner working without a host file initially.

I also need to try again without my media player connected as I think that may run a dhcp server so maybe that is messing things up.

If anyone else has a Prismiq media player and also shares out the same folder to a ppc I would be interested in hearing from them.

I have a similar issue using a bluetooth connection from my 2215 to a Belkin F8T030 Access Point on my home network. Resco Explorer 2003 can see the device names on my network (my main computer, laptop, and a NAS device) but nothing deeper. No folders, no drives, no network shares.

I assume its a permission issue of some sort since my other devices can see each others shares.

Hi,

Well thanks for all who gave input to try to help solve problem. It turned out to be a ZoneAlarm firewall setting that was keeping the ppc from being able to connect to the Shared dir.

Once I looked in the log for ZoneAlarm it became clear that I was treating myself like a common everyday hacker!

Now on to bigger and better things.
