I recently purchased a copy of PocketBackup but there does not appear to be an option to save the backup file to a storage card. I know that you need the Plus version to save to the PC but there must be an option in the basic version to save to a storage card. (I have emailed support at SpriteSoftware but have not yet heard back.)

You can do this without having the "Plus" version.
I believe you can do that just by browsing to select the backup file and specify the storage card there.

I have tried that but it does not come up as a "location" or "folder" option.

start pocketbackup
click on the browse button (three little dots)
change location to storage card
THese would be the steps to take but maybe the app doesn't see the storage card due to the model of PPC you are using. What PPC are you using, and what type of storage card is it? If you go to start > settings > system > memory > storage card, do you see stats for a storage card?

I am using a T-Mobile branded XDA and the SD is clearly visible using everything except the PocketBackup program.
I have clicked on the three dots next to the backup name and I then get "Save As"
Name: the appropriate name
Folder: None. When I select the arrow, the only entry is None.
Type: .pbf (greyed out)
Location: PC (greyed out).
There is no ability to select a different Folder or select a different Location, i.e. Storage Card.

The fact that the location says "PC" makes me suspicious.
Take a look at the backup options. I'd give more specifics, but I don't have my PPC with me now so I can't give you instructions on the options by memory.

out of curiosity, this is a registered copy of pocketbackup, yes?
I know when the 'plus' shareware version expires, it will grey out the backup to pc option.
Have you tried tech support at sprite yet? They have really good tech support and a good forum at their site.

As with most things a full uninstall and subsequent reinstall has solved the problem. I think it had to do with the fact that I had downloaded the trial version of PPCBackup Plus but only purchased the regular version and installed the bought version without fully uninstalling the previous version.
It now seems to work fine.
Thanx.
