Issue solution survey

When using the optional high-capacity battery in your Toshiba Pocket PC e740, you may experience unexpected shutdowns, hard resets, or inability to turn on your PDA under normal use.

Procedure

The optional High Capacity Battery (model: PA3197C-1BAL, PA3197U-1BRL) for use with the Toshiba Pocket PC e740 may become disconnected from the product while being used under normal operating conditions. You may experience unexpected shutdowns, hard resets, or may not not be able to turn on your PDA.

To minimize the occurrence of these problems, the High Capacity Battery should be replaced. Toshiba will replace affected high-capacity batteries at no charge to you as follows:

Check the serial number on your high-capacity battery. The serial number is located on back of the High Capacity Battery (see figure 1, below). If the serial number of the High Capacity Battery does not end with the letter "A", then the battery will be replaced.

High-capacity batteries that have a serial number ending with the letter "A" will not be replaced.

For replacement instructions, please contact Toshiba PDA Support at 1-800-949-7993. You will need to provide the serial number from your e740 and the serial number from your existing high-capacity battery.

Notes:

When you receive the new high-capacity battery, the warranty on the new battery voids the warranty on the high-capacity battery it replaces.
Battery packs contain toxic substances. Never dispose of used battery packs with other ordinary solid wastes. Always dispose of used battery packs in accordance with the prevailing community regulations that apply to the disposal of batteries. To prevent accidental short-circuiting, cover the metal terminals with insulating tape.
