The Poway, Calif., company previously said it planned to begin selling the handheld, which uses Microsoft's Pocket PC 2003 software, sometime between mid-July and the end of the month. Now, it expects the launch to come closer to mid-August, a company representative said."<br /><br />No specifics were given on the issue(s) being resolved, but this part is good news: "Gateway is also "making sure we have all of the accessories (such as keyboards and cases for the handheld) we want to have available for sale at the time of launch." It is always nice to be able to buy a PDA and get any accessories necessary immediately and not have to wait weeks or months for a third party to develop them.

This thing looks pretty neat. Has two of the main things Im looking for in a new PPC.......Dual Slots and a large battery  . May possibly be my next PPC if my Maestro would suddenly die.......or I find the need to get a new PPC. :D

You could always sell it (http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/SaleSearch?satitle=audiovox+maestro+pda&ht=1&sosortproperty=1&from=R10&BasicSearch=) (link goes to latest eBay listings). That's what I did with my other PDA (not a Maestro), and now I have a brand new 2215. :D

I was thnking the same thing. YOu can just sell it. If so just tell what condition it is in and use that money for the new ppc of your choice;)
We will have to see how the Gateway ppc turns out, until then I am going to be skiptcial about it:)

Hmmm, this always was a tight move to get the device to market. Not suprised by the delay. Still - better late than never.

I'd love to see someone hold their 100X at the right angle in front of a Ford Focus. They have the same "sleek headlight" look!

They can also get a lot more sales if the customer can roll everything into one order. It's a lot harder to get the customer to come back later and order the same accessories.
So it's also good for Gateway, as well as handy for the cutomer. If they have to have an introduction delay, they might as well make the most of it.
